Show and Tell Friday...

Today, for Kelli's Show and Tell Friday,
I wanted to share an antique stereo
that I received from my gramma
shortly after my beloved and I were married.

Growing up, I remember seeing this
sit in my gramma and grandpa's house.
I remember how she would let us listen to it
and I was always fascinated with it.
I was thrilled when she passed it along to me
and now my family and I enjoy it,
especially around Christmas time
when we pull out the records.

I do not know how old it is
but either way it's special to me. ;o)

I currently have it in our dining room...

The top of the stereo opens up...

We don't tend to use it for radio stations
but we do enjoy using the record player that it has...

And it also has a working 8 track player!
8 tracks went out of 'style' when I was a young child
but I always remembered having one in our car
and how my mom and dad would play it as we drove...

I was thrilled one day when I was able to find

a few 8 tracks with classical music!

We look forward to enjoying this for many years
and when it's so old that it may not work,
it will still be just as special!

Oh!! Does that bring back memories! Almost everyone had one of those when I was little, but we had one that was taller. Well, it seemed taller, but maybe it was because I was smaller. heehee I wish I had our old one... :-D

Oh My! I remember those from when I was growing up. My friends parents had one and we would play records and dance all evening.

8 TRACKS - Oh my gosh does that bring back memories. I can't believe you found some and that they actually work.

Blessings on you and your family!

My grandma had one of these for as long as I can remember. She would put the records on in the living room, and turn up the volume. We'd roller skate in hte basement to the music.

Gram just gave this up to my aunt last year when she moved in with us.

I have one very similar to this. Ours was purchased in 1964 after the birth of our first son. Maybe this will help you on the age.

Oh Christina! You brought back memories! Your stereo looks like my mom's! She would put on an album and we would clean the house to it! I think it was called the "Penny Arcade" (very peppy)
We used to have tons of those 8 tracks. They were stolen out of my husband's van a looonnnggg time ago.

My parents had one of those too. The cloth behind the grating was gold, not red. They just got rid of it, probably 4 years ago.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Have a great weekend!

I remember when we had one of those big stereos! Boy I hadn't seen a real 8 track in forever! Very retro today aren't you? What good memories you have I'm sure when you use the stereo.

Bruce's mom still has their console and I have a feeling Bruce will get it when she's ready to get rid of it. He has TONS of Christmas albums and old Southern Gospel albums he likes to listen to, but he also likes the retro look of it.
