Covenantal Signs

Does it just thrill you to see
a rainbow in the sky!?

It does me!

What a beautiful reminder, an unmistakable sign,
of one of YHVH's everlasting covenants!

I shall set My rainbow in the cloud,
and it shall be for the sign
of the covenant between Me and the earth.
And it shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth,
that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud,
and I shall remember {think on} My covenant
which is between Me and you
and every living creature of all flesh,
and never again let the waters
become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Genesis 9:13-15

-----------------------------------------------

Does it just thrill you
to welcome in the 7th day Sabbath!?

It does me!

What a beautiful reminder, an unmistakable sign,
of one of YHVH's everlasting covenants!

I am יהוה {YHVH} your Elohim.
Walk in My laws, and guard My right-rulings,
and do them.
And set apart My Sabbaths,
and they shall be a sign between Me and you,
to know that I am יהוה {YHVH} your Elohim.

Ezekiel 20:19 -20

It Is Shabbat!

I came across this song today...
Ah, I LOVE Shabbat!!
Thank YHVH for His Shabbat!
HalleluYAH!!

{don't forget to stop the music in the sidebar first}

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD

It is Shabbat

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat

Six days of the week
Anticipate and seek
The first of His feasts
It is Shabbat

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat

It was given as a sign
To His people for all time
Yes, a covenantal sign
It is Shabbat

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat

He gave it to the world,
A day of rest, in His Word
And sing praises to {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat

He tells us in His word
To remember and observe
To honor and delight
It is Shabbat

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat

It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD
It is Shabbat, Thank {YHVH} the LORD

Was It Changed??

Have you ever REALLY looked into
IF the Sabbath was changed?

Not one Scripture in the Bible
says Jesus changed the Sabbath to Sunday.

We NEED to seek Truth.
We NEED to search the Scriptures diligently.
We NEED to study.

Just because we have heard it all of our lives,
doesn't make it true.
Just because everyone else is doing it,
doesn't make it right.

When we put aside man's doctrine,
the Scriptures speak for themselves.

Be brave.
SEEK TRUTH.

Grab your Bible...
Consider this...

‎"We are told to be separate and holy.
We can keep the other nine (commandments) and still blend in.
Keeping the Sabbath means coming out and being separate to God.
That's why God says the Sabbath is a sign between Him and His people. "

Open our eyes, Oh YHVH, to Your Truth.

Delighting in His Set-Apart Day

"If you do turn back your foot from the Sabbath,
from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day,
and shall call the Sabbath ‘a delight,’
the set-apart day of {YHVH} יהוה ‘esteemed,’ and shall esteem it,
not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure,
nor speaking your own words,
then you shall delight yourself in {YHVH} יהוה.
And I shall cause you to ride on the heights of the earth,
and feed you with the inheritance of Yaʽaqoḇ your father.
For the mouth of {YHVH} יהוה has spoken!”
Yesha'Yahu {Isaiah} 58:13-14

We Delight!

Since learning more about YHVH's set-apart day,
it continues to be such a delight
to prepare for and observe!

We love to sing about how it is a delight!

Words can be found at this post. :)

"If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on My holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight,
the holy of YHVH, honourable;
and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure,
nor speaking thine own words:
Then shalt thou delight thyself in YHVH;
and I will cause thee to ride upon
the high places of the earth,
and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father:
for the mouth of YHVH hath spoken it."
Isaiah 58:13-14

Shabbat Shalom!

We Delight

Setting an entire day aside involves preparation and work.
The work, however, takes on a whole new joy
as the heart is directed toward YHVH,
anticipating the welcoming of His set-apart day...

Sometimes, too, things do not go exactly as planned,
but, as with many things in life, these times can be
wonderful opportunities for us to grow,
laying aside our will and our way,
conforming to Him and what He has for us to learn.

It isn't always easy, but there is always peace and joy
when we submit to His way.

My day of preparation was like that. :)
I had ideas and plans, yet, there were many 'curve balls'.
How easy it can be to get wrapped up in the "doing"
and get, what is commonly known as, the "Martha" mind set.
But as we keep our hearts right before Him,
taking joy in serving,
thanking and praising Him in the process,
how much easier it is to turn from our own plans
and rejoice in His!

I learn so much each Shabbat
but I learn so much, too, each day of preparation.
What a blessing it is! What a joy it is!
How thankful I am that He teaches me,
grows me, molds and shapes me.

After a trip to a store or two on our day of prep,
enjoying an outing with my lil' girls
and rejoicing that Daddy and son had their own outing,
we returned home to continue preparations.
With the alterations of our day,
our preparations continued all of the afternoon.
But we made the best of it, working together,
and singing together (loudly, too, which can be such fun!).

Our Shabbat supper was not, by any means,
what would be called a 'traditional' Shabbat meal,
but that was okay. ;o)
And we rejoiced in the opportunity
to share it with others.
What a blessing hospitality can be!

Variety of sourdough pizzas and lemon bread to boot! :)

Let's count our blessings.
In 'good' times and in trying times...
May we choose and resolve to praise and give thanks
to the One from Whom all blessings flow.

Shabbat Shalom!
May YHVH bless
as we seek, honor, and obey Him.

"Blessed is the man that doeth this,
and the son of man that layeth hold on it;
that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing any evil...
Also the sons of the stranger,
that join themselves to YHVH, to serve Him,
and to love the name of YHVH, to be Hs servants,
every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and taketh hold of My covenant"
Isaiah 56:2,6

Here are the words to one of the songs
we so joyously sang all afternoon during our preparations:

We Delight
by Steve McConnell

Avinu Makeynu, our Father, our King
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We enter Your rest and Your praises we sing!
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

In six days You painted the face of the earth
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
And carved out a day when You'd rest from Your work
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

You brought forth a nation from Abraham
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
And spared his son Isaac, providing the ram
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

The prophets foretold that Messiah would come
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
Sh'ma Yisrael, the Lord God is one!
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

And just as Your rested when Your work was done
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We enter Your rest by the work of Your Son
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

The lilies You dress and the sparrows You feed
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
You, Elohim, provide every need!
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

Your people will enter Your rest when we cry,
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
"Baruch ha ba b'Shem Adonai!"
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

May you delight in His set apart day.

Semi-Secret Sabbath Keeper... No More

This will be a somewhat difficult post for me to write,
as I swim upstream to share
what the Father has been showing me.

Some readers may agree whole-heartedly.
Some readers may have thought on this in their own lives,
but never drew any conclusive conclusions.
Some readers may have never really considered this,
and may be led to pray and seek Truth.
Some readers will disagree with this,
perhaps even be angered by it
and may do well to read another blog.

I have received many emails and messages...
some out of love and in kindness, some not.
I've postponed writing this (even debated whether to),
waiting for the Holy Spirit's leading.
I even tried "kicking and screaming",
resistant of leaving my 'comfort zone'.
But, in His vast goodness and longsuffering,
He taught me, in spite of self,
and has been reaffirming those things
and fully persuading me
all that He has been showing me.

I do not rejoice in causing
contention, confusion, or division
but I must share Truth.

And it's time to share...

For quite a few months now,
I have been, what I would say,
a semi-secret Sabbath keeper.

I have eluded vaguely to the 7th day Sabbath,
in some of my blog posts and on Facebook,
but refrained from outrightly sharing
(there were many reasons for this,
which I choose not to share).

I will, however, now publicly share...
I have chosen to keep, to observe, to honor,
the 7th day Sabbath.

I'm not going to use this post
to debate Sunday worship vs Sabbath keeping.
If you want to read discussions, debates, etc...
regarding that, there is lots of info online.
I'm going to try to simply stick with
sharing Scripture... adding emphasis ...
However, I may choose, also,
to share my personal comments
that may further explain my own thoughts.

With that being said...

Let me start from the beginning...
the VERY beginning...

"In the beginning God {Elohim, Yahweh}
created the heaven and the earth."
Genesis 1:1

He did.
And after He was finished with His creation...

"And on the seventh day
God {Elohim} ended His work which He had made;
and He rested on the seventh day
from all His work which He had made.
And God {Elohim} blessed the seventh day,
and sanctified it: because that in it
He had rested
from all His work
which God {Elohim} created and made"

Genesis 2:2-3

Our Father, our Creator,
set the pattern, the example, the principle for us.
A time to cease from work,
a time to review, acknowledge, celebrate
the beauty of the creation that He pronounced "good".
It belongs to Him from the very beginning.
The 7th day Sabbath honors, remembers,
God {Elohim}, JEHOVAH {Yahweh} as our Creator.
He blessed the 7th day and declared it holy,
set apart to Himself.
The Sabbath distinguishes JEHOVAH {Yahweh}
from false gods. It identifies WHO we worship...
The Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

He reaffirmed observing the Sabbath
in the Ten Commandments:

"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath
of
the LORD {JEHOVAH; Yahweh} thy God:

in it thou shalt not do any work,
thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,
thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,
nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger
that is within thy gates:

For in six days the LORD {YHWH}
made heaven and earth,

the sea, and all that in them is,
and rested the seventh day:
wherefore the LORD {YHWH}
blessed the sabbath day,

and hallowed it."
Exodus 20:8-11
(Deut. 5:12, too)

The 7th day is the sabbath of the LORD {Yahweh},
not the Jews... of the LORD {Yahweh}.
The cattle were not Jewish,
neither were the strangers,
yet, He commands them all
to remember the Sabbath.

"Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it,
as the LORD {JEHOVAH, Yahweh}
thy God hath commanded thee.

But the seventh day is the sabbath
of the LORD
{Yahweh} thy God {Elohim}:

in it thou shalt not do any work,
thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,
nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,
nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle,
nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;
that thy manservant and thy maidservant
may rest as well as thou.
And remember that thou wast a servant
in the land of Egypt, and that
the LORD {Yahweh} thy God {Elohim}

brought thee out thence through a mighty hand
and by a stretched out arm:
therefore the LORD {Yahweh} thy God {Elohim}
commanded thee
to keep the sabbath day."
Deuteronomy 5:12-15

The Sabbath remembers the Exodus from Egypt,
which is an example of His salvation.

"Thus saith the LORD {Yahweh},
Keep ye judgment, and do justice:
for my salvation is near to come,
and my righteousness to be revealed.
Blessed is the man that doeth this,
and the son of man that layeth hold on it;
that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing any evil...
Also the sons of the stranger,
that join themselves to the LORD {Yahweh},
to serve him,
and to love
the name of the LORD {Yahweh},
to be his servants,

every one that keepeth the sabbath
from polluting it,

and taketh hold of my covenant"
Isaiah 56:1-2, 6

Jew and NON-Jew ("stranger") is blessed
in keeping this command.

"If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on My holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight,
the holy of the LORD {Yahweh},honourable;
and shalt honour Him,
not doing thine own ways,

nor finding thine own pleasure,
nor speaking thine own words:

Then shalt thou delight thyself
in the LORD {YHWH};

and I will cause thee to ride upon
the high places of the earth,

and feed thee with the heritage
of Jacob thy father:

for the mouth of the LORD {YHWH}
hath spoken it.

Isaiah 58:13-14

It's supposed to be a delight.
It is His holy day, honorable...
It honors Him.

"For as the new heavens and the new earth,
which I will make, shall remain before me,
saith the LORD {Yahweh}, so shall your seed
and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass,
that from one new moon to another,
and from one sabbath to another,
shall all flesh come to worship before Me,
saith the LORD {YHWH}."
Isaiah 66:22-23

Sabbath observance in the new heaven and earth...
... in the beginning... and in the end...
why not in between?

"I am the LORD {Yahweh} your God {Elohim};
walk in My statutes, and keep My judgments,
and do them;
And hallow My sabbaths;
and they shall be a sign between Me and you,
that ye may know that I am the LORD {YHWH}
your God {Elohim}"

Ezekiel 20:19-20

It is HIS Sabbath, not any particular people's.
It is a sign between Him and His people,
that they/we will know HE is our God.

He ordained it, set it apart, set the pattern for it,
commanded it, reminded of it, called it His,
and blesses those that keep it.

And His Son?

He came to do the Father's will...

"Jesus {Yeshua} saith unto them,
My meat is to do the will
of Him that sent me,
and to finish His work."
John 4:34

He kept the Sabbath...

"And He came to Nazareth,
where He had been brought up:
and, as His custom was, He went
into the synagogue on the sabbath day,
and stood up for to read."
Luke 4:16

"And they went into Capernaum;
and straightway on the sabbath day
He entered into the synagogue, and taught."
Mark 1:21

"And when the sabbath day was come,
He began to teach in the synagogue..."
Mark 6:2a

He was our example...
walk as He walked...

"He that saith he abideth in Him
ought himself also so to walk,
even as He walked."

1 John 2:6

His disciples, apostles?

They observed it...

"But when they departed from Perga,
they came to Antioch in Pisidia,
and went into the synagogue
on the sabbath day, and sat down."
Acts 13:14

"And when the Jews were gone
out of the synagogue,
the Gentiles besought that these words
might be preached to them the next sabbath...
And the next sabbath day
came
almost the whole city together
to hear the word of God."
Acts 13:42,44

"And on the sabbath
we went out of the city by a river side,
where prayer was wont to be made;
and we sat down..."
Acts 16:13

"And Paul, as his manner was,
went in unto them, and three sabbath days
reasoned with them out of the scriptures"
Acts 17:2

"And he reasoned
in the synagogue every sabbath,

and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks."
Acts 18:4

"And he said unto them,
The sabbath was made for man,
and not man for the sabbath:
Therefore the Son of man
is Lord also of the sabbath."
Mark 2:27-28

Jesus {Yeshua} said...

"Think not that I am come
to destroy the law, or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you,
Till heaven and earth pass,
one jot or one tittle shall
in no wise pass from the law,
till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break
one of these least commandments,
and shall teach men so,
he shall be called the least
in the kingdom of heaven:
but whosoever shall do and teach them,
the same shall be called great
in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:17-19

"By this we know that we love
the children of God {Elohim},
when we love God
{Elohim},
and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God {Elohim},
that we keep His commandments:
and His commandments are not grievous."
1 John 5:2-3

I love Him.
Enough to obey.
Enough to observe.
Enough to honor.
Enough to identify.
It is not grievous.

It is a delight!

Blessed is the Man

"Blessed is the man that doeth this,
and the son of man that layeth hold on it;
that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing evil.
Also the sons of the stranger;
that join themselves to the LORD,
to serve Him,
and to love the name of the LORD,
to be His servants,
every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and taketh hold of My covenant"
Isaiah 56:2,6

Blessed, indeed!
