O Give Thanks...

"O give thanks unto YHVH,
for He is good:
for His mercy endureth for ever."
Psalm 107:1

May we offer up our praise
and our thanksgiving
on a DAILY basis.

May we not make the sacrifice of praise
only on a week or month
surrounding a man made holiday
or only on 'special occasions'...

But may we continue
in a lifestyle
of praise and thanksgiving
to the Creator and Giver
of all blessings.

Shalom!

Simple Woman's Daybook , November 23, 2010

For today...
Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Outside my window...
the sky is darkened by night,
faint sounds of the city can be heard

I am thinking...
about how much I need
His mercy, grace, and strength

I am thankful ...
I am not alone,
for He is always with me
and will never leave me
nor forsake me

I am wearing...
cream, square neck dress
with burgundy floral print,
black hoodie, wool socks
with a brown, fringed covering
that is tied in a bun

I am remembering...
how Yeshua is compassionate
and sympathetic,
how He understands my trials,
how He cares,
how He is my Friend, my Brother,
my Master, my Bridegroom

I am reading...
Ezekiel, Matthew,
and portions from
Genesis {Torah portion};
"Restoration" by D. Thomas Lancaster;
"Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" by Ann Spangler, Lois Tverberg

I am hoping (praying)...
for wisdom, for guidance,
for grace, for strength

On my mind ...
"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest,
that is passed into the heavens,
Yeshua the Son of Elohim,
let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an High Priest
which cannot be touched
with the feeling of our infirmities
{unable to sympathize with our weaknesses};
but was in all points tempted like as we are,
yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly
unto the throne of grace {favour},
that we may obtain mercy {compassion},
and find grace {favour}
to help in time of need."
(Hebrews 4:14-16)

From the learning rooms...
taking the week off...
natural learning continues

Noticing that...
how easy it is and how so many
are willingly blind and deaf
to spiritual things...
to Truth.
How easy it is
and how many of us
are not doers of the Word
but hearers only.
That there is an, overall,
lack of love for our Father
and for our Savior,
as there is such a lack in obedience.
I grieve.
May there be t'shuvah...
a repentance...
a turning back to Him...

Pondering these words ...
"For this people's heart
is waxed gross {thickened, calloused},
and their ears are dull {hard} of hearing,
and their eyes they have closed;
lest at any time they should
see with their eyes, and hear with their ears,
and should understand with their heart,
and should be converted {turn back, t'shuvah},
and I should heal... them."
~ Yeshua
(Matthew 13:15)

May our hearts not be hardened.
May we not be deaf and blind to Truth.
May we return to Him and be healed.

From the kitchen...
counters shine,
dishes are done,
closed for the night

On the Menu...

T ~ Tacos
W~ Cheesy chicken & noodles
Th ~ Turkey & the fixin's
F ~ Sourdough Pizza
S ~ Chili & Challah
Sun ~ out

I am creating...
projects are on hold this week

I am hearing...
nothing much...
everyone is sleeping...
all I hear are my fingers typing,
a few sounds from the city,
and a mind full of thought

One of my favorite things...
encouragement and comfort
from His Word

A few plans for the rest of the week...
focus on prettying the house,
enjoy husband's time off from work,
welcome our eldest home!!!!!! :o)
and enjoy the many pleasures of home
with the whole family (plus a visitor)!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

"O give thanks unto YHVH,
for He is good:
for His mercy endureth for ever."
Psalm 107:1

May we offer up our praise
and our thanksgiving

only on a week or month

But may we continue
in a lifestyle of praise and thanksgiving.

Simple Woman's Daybook: November 16, 2010

For today...
Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Outside my window...
the sun is shining brightly
in a very blue and cloudless sky

I am thinking...
about how beautiful the Scriptures are...
and how He uses them to open eyes

I am thankful ...
how He does open eyes,
how He teaches,
how He draws a line,
how He gives grace
and strength to step out
in obedience and faith

I am wearing...
a black cotton jumper
with a burgundy checkered,
button up, long sleeve shirt
(oh, and wool socks... brrr)

I am remembering...
the goodness and the faithfulness
of YHVH {the LORD}

I am reading...
Ezekiel, Matthew,
and portions from
Genesis {Torah portion};
"Fossilized Customs" by Lew White;
"The Hallelujah Diet" by George Malkmus;
"Restoration" by D. Thomas Lancaster;
"Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" by Ann Spangler, Lois Tverberg

I am hoping (praying)...
for Truth, strength, wisdom,
love, and grace
especially in circumstances;
for our eldest, who is at college,
to grow closer to the Savior,
to see HIS truths,
and to obey and follow HIM;
for my beloved husband
and our children still at home;
for the YHVH {the LORD}
to open the eyes of His people;
for friends and family
that are going through difficult times

On my mind ...
the many blessings He gives
and how He orchestrates everything
according to His will and in His time

From the learning rooms...
reading living books
miscellaneous seatwork,
studying Torah portions
and branching off into unit-type studies;
natural learning always continues...
Mama is still trying to compile
a list of this year's plans
and work out a 'skeleton' of structure.

Noticing that...
when we humble ourselves,
and see our need,
and seek Him with our whole heart,
He will feed, fill, and satisfy

Pondering these words ...

"Blessed are they which do hunger
and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled...
Blessed are the pure in heart:
for they shall see Elohim."
Matthew 5:6,8

‎"I am YHVH thy Elohim,
which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it."
Psalms 81:10

From the kitchen...
the dishwasher needs to be emptied;
no bake cookies need to be put away;
a new menu hangs from the fridge
in need of the items to make it useful ;)

On the Menu...

T ~ Taco Rice Tacos
W~ Rigate Bake
Th ~ Chicken & Dumplings
F ~ Sourdough Pizza
S ~ Barley Soup & Challah
Sun ~ Chicken & Noodles

{a decrease of cooked
& packaged foods for me
and an increase of raw foods}

I am creating...
sigh... I have been slacking
terribly in this area...
but I hope to work on
regency dresses
(for an online friend & her family);
a few toddler skirts
(for a friend);
and some tea wallets
(
for a friend)

I am hearing...
the children watching
a short movie in the family room;
cars outside my window;
and my blog's background music
playing softly at the computer

One of my favorite things...
hearing how YHVH is
opening the eyes of others

A few plans for the rest of the week...
continue in our studies;
go grocery shopping;
sew, sew, and sew;
enjoy the many comforts of home!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

"But we all, with open face
beholding as in a glass
the glory of the Lord {Master; YHVH},
are changed into the same image
from glory to glory,
even as by the Spirit of the Lord {Master}."
2 Corinthians 3:18

Are we being changed into His image?
Do we reflect Him?
Are we looking into the mirror of His Word?

May we.

Shalom!

Nature Center Outing

Last week, we were able to visit a nature center
that exhibits many of the local animals here
(and it was free for us, too!).
We enjoyed the very spontaneous visit
and took LOTS of photos (as usual) to share. ;o)

Not much commentary this post...

learning about and admiring
our Creator's marvelous handiwork.

"Thou, even thou, art YHVH alone;
thou hast made heaven,
the heaven of heavens, with all their host,
the earth, and all things that are therein,
the seas, and all that is therein,
and thou preservest them all;
and the host of heaven worshippeth Thee."
Nehemiah 9:6

We Delight

Setting an entire day aside involves preparation and work.
The work, however, takes on a whole new joy
as the heart is directed toward YHVH,
anticipating the welcoming of His set-apart day...

Sometimes, too, things do not go exactly as planned,
but, as with many things in life, these times can be
wonderful opportunities for us to grow,
laying aside our will and our way,
conforming to Him and what He has for us to learn.

It isn't always easy, but there is always peace and joy
when we submit to His way.

My day of preparation was like that. :)
I had ideas and plans, yet, there were many 'curve balls'.
How easy it can be to get wrapped up in the "doing"
and get, what is commonly known as, the "Martha" mind set.
But as we keep our hearts right before Him,
taking joy in serving,
thanking and praising Him in the process,
how much easier it is to turn from our own plans
and rejoice in His!

I learn so much each Shabbat
but I learn so much, too, each day of preparation.
What a blessing it is! What a joy it is!
How thankful I am that He teaches me,
grows me, molds and shapes me.

After a trip to a store or two on our day of prep,
enjoying an outing with my lil' girls
and rejoicing that Daddy and son had their own outing,
we returned home to continue preparations.
With the alterations of our day,
our preparations continued all of the afternoon.
But we made the best of it, working together,
and singing together (loudly, too, which can be such fun!).

Our Shabbat supper was not, by any means,
what would be called a 'traditional' Shabbat meal,
but that was okay. ;o)
And we rejoiced in the opportunity
to share it with others.
What a blessing hospitality can be!

Variety of sourdough pizzas and lemon bread to boot! :)

Let's count our blessings.
In 'good' times and in trying times...
May we choose and resolve to praise and give thanks
to the One from Whom all blessings flow.

Shabbat Shalom!
May YHVH bless
as we seek, honor, and obey Him.

"Blessed is the man that doeth this,
and the son of man that layeth hold on it;
that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing any evil...
Also the sons of the stranger,
that join themselves to YHVH, to serve Him,
and to love the name of YHVH, to be Hs servants,
every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and taketh hold of My covenant"
Isaiah 56:2,6

Here are the words to one of the songs
we so joyously sang all afternoon during our preparations:

We Delight
by Steve McConnell

Avinu Makeynu, our Father, our King
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We enter Your rest and Your praises we sing!
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

In six days You painted the face of the earth
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
And carved out a day when You'd rest from Your work
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

You brought forth a nation from Abraham
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
And spared his son Isaac, providing the ram
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

The prophets foretold that Messiah would come
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
Sh'ma Yisrael, the Lord God is one!
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

And just as Your rested when Your work was done
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We enter Your rest by the work of Your Son
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

The lilies You dress and the sparrows You feed
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
You, Elohim, provide every need!
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

Your people will enter Your rest when we cry,
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!
"Baruch ha ba b'Shem Adonai!"
Lord, we delight in Your Shabbat!

We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!
We delight, we delight, we delight in Your Shabbat!

May you delight in His set apart day.

A Pacific Visit

On Monday we enjoyed lunch with Daddy at his work
and on the way home, we made an impromptu stop
to take a stroll along the beach... and it was a lovely one!

Many beautiful views...

"By the word of YHVH were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap:
He layeth up the depth in storehouses.
Let all the earth fear YHVH:
let all the inhabitants of the world
stand in awe of Him.

Psalm 33:6-8
