Our Trip to the Quarry...

I mentioned in my previous post
that our homeschool group took a trip
to our local quarry on Friday.
We had no idea that it would be so interesting.
We had a lovely time!

Below are some photos of our trip...

Watching rock being dumped

Watching the quarry "dinosaurs" at work
(the workers refer to the machinery as their dinosaurs)

Watching how it all works...

One of the products from the quarry

Photo with one of the quarry "dinosaurs"

A mom of many hats...

A quarry worker of many... bonnets??

Time to go to the pit...

Looking a bit concerned as we drove down...

"Dinosaurs" working in the pit...

Beautiful layers...

The pit was a total of 60 feet below the surface.

Photo with a "dinosaur"...

It was VERY bright out (hence, the squinty eyes).
Notice the size of the tire?
The children were amazed it was bigger than them

(and bigger than Mama).

At the end, we were able to dig for fossils!
First the children got a mini-lesson

on the appearance of fossils
so they would know what to look for...

They had such fun searching, exploring, digging,
and asking if they had, indeed, found fossils...

(Ally decided to enjoy the air conditioning in the van,
since it was terribly hot)

Carolynne asking if she had found one and what it was

They found quite a few fossils like sting ray palettes,
shark teeth, a vertebrate, squid beak, horse teeth, etc...
It was quite fascinating.

And mama even got a little something special, too...

I tell you that, if these should hold their peace,
the stones would immediately cry out."

break forth into singing..."

Popping In, Again, to Share More...

I'm not sure that posting twice in two days
is really considered "popping in"
but I did want to share a few more photos
so they didn't get too piled up. ;o)

My beloved has been on vacation this week.
He is spending the week with his brothers.
Every year, they have an annual golf week
and this is the week for it.
They spend all day, every day, golfing
and other miscellaneous things,
then spend the evenings together, too.
And that is one of the reasons why
I have a little "extra" time to post, again. ;o)
Not much time to write still
but I still wanted to share more photos.

Here we are continuing our 7th week
of using Student of the Word...

It has been such a blessing digging deeply into God's Word!
It is something the children and I, alike, are enjoying.

On Tuesday, we headed to piano lessons (Ally teaches)
and saw families of geese at the cemetery.
We pulled aside to watch them...

They were so cute to watch and follow.

Later, we visited friends so the younger ones
could go on a nature scavenger hunt.
They had such fun...

While there, Ally and her friend giggled with guinea pigs...

The mamas sat together, fellowshipping,
and discussing a few
new books that we are
anticipating arriving in the mail. ;o)
(I love mail!! I love books!!! I love the two together! lol)

On Thursday, Will spent the afternoon golfing
with Daddy and his uncles. He was thrilled!

He took this shot of Daddy as they rode in the golf cart...

(That's my honey! ;o)

Later that evening,

Daddy and "the uncles" stayed for supper.
The children enjoyed having all of them there...

Here are Daddy, Will, and "the uncles"...

They had a wonderful time together.

Today we went on our homeschool field trip,
to our local quarry, and I hope to share photos soon. ;o)

I hope that y'all have enjoyed your week, too!

and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:"

Popping In to Say Hello and Share...

I had a little time to spend here
so I wanted to pop in and say, "Hello".
Thank you for the kind comments,
prayers, and encouragement
as I have been taking a little break from blogging.

After speaking on the phone with my mama,
I was compelled to share some photos of our past week. ;o)
I would love to write more, but I cannot, due to time.
I'd love to share all that the Lord is teaching me
and doing in our family but I'd end up writing a book!
(praise Him!)
It is a blessing to see the Lord answer prayer,
to work in hearts, and to accomplish His good.
What a blessing trials are, too, though they can be hard.
I am always thankful that the Lord does not
just leave us where we are, spiritually.
I sure praise Him for His Faithfulness!

It's been a good week for us.
We've been continuing with our Bible studying,
implementing our new "blessing our home chart",
working on creating good habits,
spending precious time together,
tending to our children's hearts and my own,
enjoying God's house, people, and creation,
spending time with friends,
going to our homeschool park day,
learning at home, doing our annual testing,
going to dentist appointments,
enjoying the beautiful weather, sewing,
enjoying visits with Daddy's brothers,
and much more!

Well, without further ado,
here are some photos from our past week...

Having fun while doing schoolwork with friends...

Enjoying our homeschool park day, last Friday...

The new instrument that Ally is learning...

The lil' girls organizing their papers (for fun!)
on a Saturday afternoon...

Ally trying to feed her feathery friends...

Ally and Will watching the birds (and the squirrel)
together from the window...

Beth learning to read...

An exciting golf cart ride after piano lessons...

I was hoping to share more

but my beloved has our camera
(which contains my other photos).
He and Will are having a golf day
with Daddy's brothers today.
I hope to share more photos soon.

Even though I may still not be able to
respond to comments or emails,
I do hope to post photos when I am able. ;o)
Thank you all for understanding.
I will try to respond and visit y'all
as I am able, when I have time. ;o)

In the meantime, I look forward to spending
more time with my family.
The moments are flying by too swiftly
and this is such a crucial time
to be tending to their hearts.
Praise God for this precious time
and praise Him for these precious children.

"Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:
and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man;
so are children of the youth."
~ Psalm 127:3

"That our sons may be as plants
grown up in their youth;
that our daughters may be as corner stones,
polished after the similitude of a palace"
~ Psalm 144:12

"But without faith it is impossible to please him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
~ Hebrews 11:6
