Haven at Home on Wheels... Day 20... Remember the Alamo!

Day 20... Saturday

Got coffee in bed this morning
and Carolynne came to snuggle and give sugars. ;-)
(I just love her sugars!)
She still isn't feeling very well, as she is coughing a lot
and is pretty congested... poor baby.

We stayed around the camper till almost 11am,
then got some lunch, ate it at a park, drove downtown,
parked, and walked to he Alamo.

We enjoyed the Alamo very much... especially Will.
We walked through, saw artifacts and models, read history,
and got history lessons from Will as he shared
various facts he recalled from all the books he's read.
It was a real delight.

We ventured into the gift shop and picked up a few things,
and walked the garden, admiring the variety of cactus.

Afterward, we walked across the street
and enjoyed an ice cream outside together.

We, then, walked back to he vehicle,
picked up a few things from the store,
and headed back to the campground.

While sitting outside the camper, we saw a strange worm
moving quickly along the sidewalk...
It didn't take us long to realize it was NOT a worm...
It was a baby snake!!
Hubby smooshed it and was our hero. :-)

After eating supper, we went to the playground.
It was a joy to watch everyone on the merry-go-round...

lots of screams and laughter... especially from Ally. ;-)

Later I did two loads of laundry
and got an escort from my sweetheart...
protecting me in the dark from bad guys, bugs, and snakes! ;-)
... my hero!

Next, we make our way towards New Mexico. :-)

The Alamo, what a great trip! :)

I hope the rest of your trip goes well too. It sounds like you are all having tons of fun.

And stay cool and hydrated. It's pretty hot out here today, and no breeze, so we're staying inside for the most part and enjoying some games.

My parents live in Cloudcroft, NM. It is 9,000 feet up and to get there you have to go through the only tunnel in NM. It is north of Alamogordo.

I am so enjoying following you in your journeys!

Re: the Alamo-I was so disappointed when I finally saw it in person and saw the little strip mall across the street. That is just WRONG! ;-)

God Bless you guys, and praying for quick bronchitis recoveries!

We visited San Antonio and the Alamo a couple months ago. Loved it and now my kids can't wait to go back! I'm looking forward to reading more of your adventures. Blessings!:)
