Thursday's Things...

I hope y'all are having a good week.
Ours has been good, though continually busy.
Yesterday we drove about an hour away
to have a checkup with the peds neurologist
for Ally and the 'issues' she's been having this year.

After being a little 'misplaced, we arrived safely. ;o)
Since all of the tests have returned normal this year
and her thyroid issue has seemed to dissolve,
he suggested the possiblity of fibromyalgia
though he did not diagnose her with it per say.
He does, however, want her to try physical therapy
and be treated there as a possible fibromyalgia patient.
I plan to look into that next week, Lord willing.
After our appointment, we were excited
to enjoy lunch at one of our favorite places
(since we don't have one locally)
and then headed home to make some thing
for the fellowship we were having after church.
We were home for about two hours
and then left the house early
in order to miss the neighborhood's festivities.
To pass the time by,
the children and I ate lunch at the park
and played before heading to the evening service...








Today Ally had a dentist appointment
and we had to make a run to the store.
Funny how that can seem to take up most of the day.
We have been able to accomplish
some things this week, though. ;o)

A game that Mommy, particularly, appreciates
for children to play...

Matching the socks game!

I dumped the box of unmatched socks on the floor
and let them sort through and match them.
Dare I say that they enjoyed it??
They did! ;o)
Afterwards, they used the ones that remained unmatched
as collars for their stuffed dogs. lol
I was delighted to see they made the most of it.


Tomorrow we have a homeschool park day
and, possibly, an afternoon with friends.
Saturday we have a field trip to a local, working farm
that we had to reschedule from last week,
due to the rain.
Sunday is Anniversary Sunday at our church,
as we celebrate the church's 8th anniversary!
We look forward to those events
and to calmer days, Lord willing.

I haven't found a lot of time to respond
to questions or comments lately
but I do hope to when I am able.

I love the game you created! Match the socks...that's great. Hope you have a relaxing day at the park. Sounds like you could use a break.

Sounds like a busy week. I played that matching game myself just this morning ;). My DH just "LOVES" my bag of socks (hehe)one day I will get them all matched up!

I play match-the-socks all the time, but mine is too easy. All the socks are the same and they all belong to the same person. I win every time. How boring. It looks like your game was much more exciting. heehee :-D

I have fibromyalgia, and I just wanted to share some things with you. I am not trying to tell you what decisions to make, as you are a parent and want what is best for your daughter. I just wanted to share about some of the things that I have learned.

First of all, in my opinion, when they want to use a lot of medication, specifically anti-depressants to relax the muscles, it is not worth it. First of all when I did it it went against my conscience so I had guilt, they actually made me depressed, and there is a very real chance of getting addicted to them.

One of the best things for fibromyalgia is to try to get a good nights sleep (doesn't always happen with fibromyalgia lol) and to eat healthy. By healthy I mean whole foods and not processed as much as possible. Also the more sugar you can cut out the better. For me, taking wheat grass juice (green superfood) and or taking trace minerals and probiotic drinks helped a lot. I also like to juice fruits and vegetables and have 100% juice that I make myself. A good mix is mainly carrot, a little beets, and some celery. It tastes so good and is so good for you. Sorry if you already know this stuff.

I personally rather see natural doctors than medical doctors, so most stuff I know is from a natural point of view as I don't believe in being drugged up. I hope this helps and if you have any questions about any of this, please contact me.

Fibromyalgia is hard on young ladies. A lot of people think you are just lazy, or that you are "too young to have such things wrong with you". Some people who know nothing about it tell you to suck it up and deal with it. There is very little compassion from people when a young person suffers from this. If I can help Ally in any way from that point of view please let me know.

I had but a few min and wanted to stop by and say hello, what fun pictures to show everyone, thanks for sharing, and I do hope that they find the cause of your DD "issues" soon, I would hate to think they couldnt get it figured out and on the right path to care, All in the Lord's timing right? I have a sock bag that grows daily, unfirtunitly it is a morning ritual to dig in the sock bag because there are more pairs in the bag then in the drawers. Praying for Ally.

I wanted to say something about diet for Ally, but it has been my experience that people would rather die than change their diet, so I was hesitant. But, Katy-Anne said it very well. Diet changes make much more sense than medications, although I am not totally against them, but I just believe they are relied upon too much. I'm sure you can find a lot of information on your own, but I would encourage you do research it. Most people in the world eat their way to disease. I hope Ally can eat her way to health. :-D

Right now, I am trying to eat my own way to health. I didn't get here overnight and it will take a while to get better, but it is worth it.

My husband has fibromyalgia. Its not something they were ready to diagnose him with since he is a man and the majority of patients are women. But he no doubt has fibromyalgia. They say that it is brought on most times by trauma to the body and/or an injury. He was in a car wreck in his police car about 5 years ago and we thought he had this condition a couple of years ago but the doctor wouldn't come right out and say that is what it is. They tried to put him on anti-depressants and he refused to take them due to our bodies becoming immune to them and eventually they will want to change or up the dosage of the anti-depressant. I feel for Ally if she has this. My husband has "attacks" now and then (however lately he has had them more frequently). I will pray for Ally about this. It is so hard to see my husband in the severe pain he goes through at times. Since the injury he sustained was to his neck and his right side of his face...this is where he suffers the most pain. The past few days he hasn't even been able to eat due to the pain in his jaw muscles. I pray they can do something to help Ally if God chooses to use the doctors and/or medication to help her.

My mom has fibromyalgia. What I have read here so far has been great advice. The only thing I can add from what I have learned with/for/through her is the need for exercise. What she found really helped her was water exercise. She found it very helpful and soothing. And as the first lady said, sleep is a major factor. My mom feels very bad when she does not get enough sleep. I pary you will be guided to the right doctors and they will have the wisdom, compassion and understanding to do what is proper for Ally, not simply what the "books" say they "should."
