A Sweet, Familiar Treat...

This afternoon I made a sweet, familiar treat
that our family enjoys
(particularly my beloved).

They sure don't last long in our home...

We will be sending off a 'care package'
to Daddy on Monday, Lord willing,
and will be including some of these yummy treats
with this 'tag' attached that Ally made...

He mentioned, before, how these treats

are a big hit among the other Marines!
(If any of y'all send out care packages
to any of our service men and women,
it's a much appreciated treat for them.)

I know it's a pretty common recipe,
but I thought I'd post it, just in case:

Rice Krispies Treats

3-4 TBS butter
1 pkg regular marshmallows (about 10oz.)
6 Cups Rice Krispies cereal or off brand

Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat.
Mix in cereal and stir until well coated.
Spread, with a buttered spatula,
into a greased 13x9 (or larger) pan.
Cut into squares and enjoy!

Optional add-ins:
dash of vanilla
cinnamon
sprinkles
chocolate chips
butterscotch chips

We omit the marshmellows for peanutbutter instead, just as good!!!

Kim ~ They are one of my hubby's favorites, too. ;o)

Heather ~ We like 'em, too.
Thank you for your prayers.

Jeannie ~ I would LOVE to know how much peanut butter you use, instead of the marshmallows. I would love to use something that is healhier. Do you make them the same way?

what a GREAT tip Christina thank you!

We have a friend of the family that just went in and was sent over to iraq.... we plan to write him as a lesson to our children and as an opportunity to share the gospel with him. I would have NEVER thought to send him treats!
THANKS!

We just made these last week! YUMMY and we tried chocolate chips I had never tried that before, they were so good.

This is my favorite way to make them though:
RICE KRISPIE - PEANUT BUTTER TREATS
Printed from COOKS.COM

1 c. Karo syrup
1 c. sugar, white or brown
1 c. peanut butter
6 c. Rice Krispies
1 c. butterscotch pieces
1 c. chocolate chips

Mix Karo and sugar together in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter, mix well. Pour over cereal. Flatten into lightly greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Melt butterscotch and chocolate pieces together over low heat. Spread over treats. Cut when cool.
