Mama's New Dress...

A few weeks ago we ordered a pattern
from Common Sense Patterns
for a new dress for Ally.

She's been working at tracing her pattern
and cutting out her fabric,
which she was able to finish today.
As she was finishing,

I traced the bodice of her dress,
altered it to fit me, and decided to sew up a dress
using her bodice and my skirt.
The bodice of her pattern had a band on the sleeve,
which I used a contrasting fabric

(but matched it with the skirt).
Here was the result....
(Oh, due to Ally's pleading,

I agreed to post the candid photos, as well)

Here, you may be able to see

the contrasting fabric a little better...

We hope to sew Ally's up tomorrow. :-D

I'm so glad you posted the candids. They gave me a little bedtime giggle. :) Thanks to ally for bugging you to do it! ;)

I love the little girl t-shirt dresses. They look pretty simple. I might try one. Can you buy a pattern for one? Also, what material do you use for the bottoms? Thanks for any advice.

Michelle ~ lol... Ally is always trying to cause a giggle.
I haven't seen a pattern for the t-shirt dresses. I just made a basic skirt out of whatever fabric I had on hand, then sewed it to a cut t-shirt. Hope that helps.

This is sooo pretty!!! What a fantastic seamstress!!!

Thank you for sharing where you got this pattern from. WHEN I learn to sew, I would LOVE to make this for myself!! It's very feminine looking!!

Mrs. U ~ This is my new favorite dress pattern! I love the sleeve length, too. Sewing it isn't too hard, just translating the instructions (but not too difficult). How exciting to learn to sew. I know you'll love it!
