Monday's Musings...

I wasn't able to post yesterday evening
due to internet connection difficulties.
Our day wasn't too eventful.
We, mostly, caught up on some cleaning
and had some very relaxed learning moments.

Ally gave Will his weekly piano lesson
(which has been such a blessing to watch
as they work together)...

Beth and Carolynne were interested
in playing with our nativity set...

Later in the day, Mama was in need of some rest,
so while mama took a catnap on the couch,
the lil' girls read books on the floor with their babies
and Will read on the chair...

As I mentioned... not very eventful

but I was glad to sit back and relax and enjoy the children.

This afternoon will be a busy one for us
as we take Ally to the chiropractor and run a few errands.

I did, however, want to share what I was able to get
over the weekend to help in our sewing adventures.
Our local fabric store was having a 40-50% off sale
so I went in to see if there were a few sewing helpfuls
that were on sale that Pam had shared with me.
I was delighted to see they were all on sale! Woo hoo!
I was able to get a large cutting mat, the weights,
and a couple of cutters...

Ally and I look forward to using them this week
and, as Pam stated,
kissing our pins and scissors good-bye! ;o)

Hope y'all enjoy your day!

"This is the day which the LORD hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it."
~ Psalm 118:24

Yea!! I'm so excited that you were able to find all of the sewing supplies -- and on sale too! I hope you love them as much as I do!

I hope you enjoy your new mat and cutter - mine were a wonderful change from scissors! I still haven't gotten the hang of using them for clothing patterns yet, but they're great for all the other sewing I do.....and SO much easier!

Thanks for sharing pictures of your projects too - it's very encouraging!

A nap is always an "event" to me! LOL! Anyway, I would love to know how the cutters work around curves. I have one, but I have had it for more than ten years and have used it maybe ...... never. For weights, I always use my table knives. heehee That was a helpful hint from a friend. :-D

Hey Christina,
I've never seen those weights, but they look very handy. I also have never used a mat and rotary cutter, but it's on my hopeful list. ;0)
My mother always used table knives to hold her patterns down instead of pins. I just remembered that when I read your post.
Naps are a good thing! I like to catch one every now and then. Glad you were able to, too!

Tired? Tired enough for a nap? That, my Sister, can only mean one thing!

Well...it could mean you're just tired, but it's much more wonderful to think what I'm thinking. ;)

I looked for some of those sewing weights this weekend--none to be found. Do give a report on how well you liked them, won't you? Maybe I'll order online as Pam suggested.

Hey there! So many great posts! I love the way the dress came out, can't wait to see the rest!
I like my cutting mat. I have a big rotary cutter, but can't find it right now. I need to get a smaller one for tighter curves. I'm making my first skirt for myself this week! I'm so excited! I read Pam's entry about the weights liked to know how you like them too.
What other sewing store did ya'll go to when you were here besides the BIG superstore? If you could let me know, thanks!

:) You sewing mommies amaze me! How wonderful that the children sat and read while you took a little catnap...mine would be content reading for a bout 5 min and then decide to climb the walls ;) Ohhh is GB hinting????? Hmmm???

Pam ~ I was excited I was able to find them, too. ;o) Thank you for the advice. We are enjoying them.

Melody ~ I was able to enjoy them last night. They take a little getting used to though. ;o) But I do like them.

Ginny ~ lol Yes, a nap is an event. ;o)
I found that the smaller cutter works pretty good around the curves.
Table knives, huh? Intersting!

Karen ~ I had never really seen them either. I was the fabric store carried them. ;o)
Table knives, too? Hmmm. I had never heard of that until you and Ginny mentioned it.
Yes, naps are lovely to catch now and then. ;o)

Amy ~ I love relaxed days, too. ;o)
Yes, I was very excited to get all of those things on sale. What wonderful timing!

Grafted Branch ~ I found the weights at our local fabric store (not our supercenter) in the quilting section.
Yes, tired enough to take a nap.
I liked your 'wonderful thinking', too, but no, not the case... just plain tired. ;o) It was a very nice thought, though. ;o)

MarineMama ~ Thank you. ;o) How exciting that you're making your first skirt. I hope to see pics of it. ;o)
I'll have to think of the name of the sewing store we went to. I think it was "creative" something. hmmmm... I'll let you know soon. It's off the same road as the supercenter, just down further. When the name comes to me, I'll let you know.

Heather ~ Yes, it was a blessing the children sat and read so I could take a catnap. ;o)
GB had a wonderful thought but there's no hint to share. Oh well... you never know what the Lord will do though. ;o) lol (laughing out loud as in 'wouldn't that be wonderful')

Apples of Gold ~ Thank you. It was a blessing to get them and I have enjoyed them so far. ;o)

Kristi ~ They were fun to use. ;o)
The lil' girls enjoy the nativity set, too. I was glad to find one last year that was soft and able to be played with. ;o)

Mommy ~ Having fun. ;o) Wish you were here. Love and miss you and praying for you.

Cheryl ~ Great to hear from you. ;o)
