Haven at Home Happenings...

The week seems to have flown by in our home!
On Monday, Daddy had the day off for Columbus Day
and we enjoyed spending the day with him
(and we even got some homeschool work done!).

During our time of working on our lessons, Daddy
listened in while stirring something up in the kitchen...

No Bake Cookies!! Yum!

Monday afternoon was spent with friends from church.
We enjoyed food, fellowship, and lots of fun!

Throughout the rest of the week,
we enjoyed some vanschooling while running errands.
We used our time memorizing/reviewing Scripture
with our Scripture to music cd
and focused on our composer for this term, Mozart.
How interesting to know about and listen to his operas!

We, also, enjoyed our time at home
living, laughing, loving, and learning together...

Beth reading aloud with Carolynne about turtle tracks

Will leisurely reading his science book

Ally joyfully accomplishing lots in the kitchen (!)

Carolynne working in her phonics workbook

Beth working in her phonics workbook

Will using the dictionary in his Language Arts

He enjoyed (yes, enjoyed!)
learning about prepositions this week!
Who wouldn't like learning about prepositions
with a bathroom tissue tube?! lol

"The soldier went through the tube."

Ally was glad to find time to make a blog post.

And Will enjoyed adding a seal to his ocean box
that he is making this year in science...

Gleaning from our history studies in the Old Testament,
we chose Joshua 22:5 to memorize and have been
working together to hide God's Word in our hearts.
We've been focusing on the five key words to help us.
What a wonderful verse to live by!

"...to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways,
and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him,
and to serve him with all your heart
and with all your soul."
~ Joshua 22:5b

After finishing up the book of Joshua,
we began our studies in the book of Judges.
We created a chart of the sin cycle (pictured above)
that the Israelites fell into after Joshua died.
This chart will be a good visual aid as we see this cycle
throughout the time of the judges.
When looking at this chart, we, also, see how we
are not much different from the children of Israel.
How many times we follow the same sin cycle!
Oh, what a blessing being in God's Word is!

"The law of thy mouth is better unto me
than thousands of gold and silver."
~ Psalm 119:72

"Thy word is very pure:
therefore thy servant loveth it."
~ Psalm 119:140

Looks like you've been having lots of fun. I have to comment though about your husband on the child's bike...reminds me of something Brian did a few years ago. We were at Toys'R'Us in Cali, and I have a video of him riding a big wheels tricycle. Are they out to prove something?? Was just curious and very amused :-)
