Monday's Musings...

It was a blessing to focus on our home learning today.
Though I don't have much time to write,
I wanted to share a few pics from our day.

We began our morning with reading aloud together
a chapter in Proverbs.
As Ally worked in her Wisdom for Life book,
the younger ones worked at illustrating our verse of focus...

Sometimes I will draw one illustration and make copies
for them to personalize and color
but it is a blessing, too, when they are able to
develop their own drawing skills by illustrating it themselves...

I drew the illustration on the dry erase board

while the children worked on theirs...

We discussed what kind of words pierce like a sword

and what kind of words are healing.
It was a good verse to practice applying today (this week).

The children's illustrations...

Afterwards, Ally worked in her room on her studies
(coming down later to share what she was learning
about socialism and communism in economics)
and Will worked on his seatwork.
The lil' girls enjoyed some time out-of-doors.

While we did chores, I read aloud from "Adam and His Kin".
Then, at lunch time, we gathered at the table for Bible/History.
Before we began, though, Will read aloud
a story he wrote about Paul Revere today...

After Bible/History, the lil' girls

colored a page to go with our lesson,
Ally continued with her work,
and Will worked on his Bible study.

Later, the younger ones and I sat at the couch
to read in our current read aloud,
The True Story of Noah's Ark.
Afterwards, they sat at the table, in amazement,
leaving their childhood image of the chubby, little ark behind,
looking at a picture of what the ark
may have REALLY looked like...

It was a lovely time of learning together today...

a real blessing.

I hope your day is going well, too. *Ü*

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits,
even the God of our salvation. Selah."

Oh, how I love homeschooling. We get to focus on the things that are truly important.

I too have a childhood image of a chubby little ark :P

What a great book. When my kids are a little older, I will have to look that one up!

Thank you for your prayers. We are especially appreciative for them at this time.

I enjoyed reading about your homeschooling day. My children are currently enrolled in a small traditional church school. When we move to Alabama I will be homeschooling. I am nervous about continuing my kindergartner in reading.
