This verse just got me to thinking...if this wasn't just a command to the Jewish people, then why can't everyone observe the Sabbath? My friends in Alaska and Greenland (missionaries) don't have a sunset for 4-6 months of the year. Seems like YHVH intended it for His chosen people in a specific region of the world.
Anyway, just thinking out loud. Hope you have a great day of rest and worship!

Valerie ~ It's good to think. ;o)
And it's a good question.
The verse that I shared said to keep/observe His Sabbath and to sanctify it/have it set-apart, as YHVH commanded. I added the "sunset to sunset" in my title and photo because that is when it is celebrated, following the pattern of days beginning in the evening (as in Genesis 1). I have not found a verse in Scripture that necessarily commands sunset to sunset, as it is assumed that will be the pattern of days (as from the beginning). I think it seems obvious that if someone lives in a place that does not have a sunset or sunrise, they would be able to observe it still, just as they observe weeks, days, hours, and minutes. The command (and the point) is keeping His 7th day set apart as He commanded. :)

No, you are right. Jewish people go from sunset to sunset, because they always have a sunset. :) So far, my search through the scriptures has not revealed a single command to worship on any particular day. In fact, Jesus said over and over how it is lawful to do whatever one needs to do on the Sabbath.

Valerie ~ Saying "Jewish" people observe it this way is not what I said in my comment. :) In fact, I mentioned how the days were patterned from the beginning... of time... not the beginning of "Jews".
Also, I did not, necessarily, say that we should worship on one particular day. We should worship Him every day. However, I do believe there is one particular day, since the beginning, that He wants us and has commanded us to set-apart for Him. And I believe that day is the 7th day, as He repeats over and over in Scripture.
Also, I find that Yeshua said it is lawful to do "good" on the Sabbath, not using the term "needful".
