Simple Woman's Daybook ~ November 2, 2010

For today...
Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Outside my window...
is a bright blue, cloudless sky

I am thinking...
of my 'to-do' list

I am thankful ...
that I once was blind,
but now I see...
how the LORD (YHVH)
continually opens my eyes

I am wearing...
jean jumper
with mauve 3/4 sleeve shirt

I am remembering...
what a joy it is
to sing praises unto HIM

I am reading...
Ezekiel, Matthew,
and portions from
Genesis {Torah portion};
lesson in our Sunday evening Bible study;
"Fossilized Customs" by Lew White;
"Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" by Ann Spangler, Lois Tverberg

I am hoping (praying)...
for strength, wisdom,
love, and grace
especially in circumstances;
for our eldest, who is at college,
to grow closer to the Savior,
to see HIS truths,
and to obey and follow HIM;
for my beloved husband
and our children still at home;
for the LORD (YHVH)
to open the eyes of His people

On my mind (still)...
how the disciples, the prophets,
many others, and even Jesus (Yeshua)
suffered reproach and persecution...
and I am blessed to among them

From the learning rooms...
studying Torah portions,
reading living books
and some more seatwork goes on,
as natural learning continues,
as I continue to compile
a more structured plan.

Noticing that...
there is a lot
"on my plate" these days

Pondering these words ...
"Most people, sometime in their lives,
stumble across truth.
Most jump up, brush themselves off,
and hurry on about their business
as if nothing had happened."
~ Winston Churchill

May this not be the case with me.
May I diligently seek the Truth
and follow after it...
allowing it to change me.

From the kitchen...
a few dishes await washing

On the Menu...

T ~ Taco Rice Tacos
W~ Creamy Wild Rice Soup
Th ~ Skillet Eggplant & Spinach Lasagna
F ~ Sourdough Pizza
S ~ Rice & vegetable Soup
Sun ~ Tater Tot Casserole

I am creating...
regency dresses
(for an online friend & her family);
a few toddler skirts
(for a friend)

I am hearing...
noises from the city
(cars rolling down the interstate,
dogs barking, helicopters flying,
and even birds singing)
,
the children playing together
and sometimes stampeding
through the house

One of my favorite things...
spending the day with my children
at home ;-)

A few plans for the rest of the week...
go on our bi-weekly grocery shopping trip;
continue in our studies;
sew, sew, and sew;
write up a blog post
I've been prayerfully working on;
enjoy the many comforts of home!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

"But let all those that put their trust in Thee rejoice:
let them ever shout for joy, because Thou defendest them;
let them also that love Thy name be joyful in Thee."
~ Psalm 5:11

HE is my defense!
In HIM do I trust!
HIS name do I love!
In HIM do I rejoice!

Thanks for sharing your day-- I love the Simple Woman's Daybook- it always brings me back to myself, to this moment, making me aware of all that is going on around me.

Let me know if you find success compiling a more structured plan. I am all over the board with homeschooling these days.

Love that quote from Winston Churchill- I think we perhaps stumble across truth and brush it off more than once in our lives. I think daily we encounter truth and choose whether to embrace it (sometimes at great cost) or ignore it (at an even greater cost).

Been praying for your eldest daughter away at college as well. What a light she will be!

Christina--what a refreshing blog today. Yes, Lord let your words change my heart. I have 2 small children and at this time in their lives I am in control of everything they do. I pray for your daugther that she will let her light SHINE.

Have an awesome week!
Nicole

Leslie ~ I enjoy doing the daybook, too. Time to sit and reflect is a blessing. :)
I think finding success in more structure will be a life long journey for me. In our 13 years of homeschooling, I have always been so eclectic. ;o) But I will continue to try.
I loved that quote from Churchill, too. I read it in one of the books I'm reading. There is so much truth in it. We do tend to toss truth into the wind and go along life without taking much notice of it. I have. And I am praying I will do it less and less.

And thank you so much for your prayers for our eldest. We are praying she will continue to grow and be the light that He wills her to be.

Nicole ~ Thank you for your kind words. It has been difficult letting our daughter "go", watching her make her own decisions and grow further in her own personal relationship with her Savior. But there have been many blessings, too. Thank you for your prayers. Praying is the best thing we can do for our children.

Jaime Lynn ~ Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. :)

Melanie ~ Thank you. ;) And thank you for visiting!

Andi ~ Hi! ;o) Thank you for stopping by... a delight to hear from you. :)
