Student of the Word... Genesis 22

This week we have been attempting
to get 'back on track' with homeschool
(even though we still don't have all our books)
and trying to ease into a 'schedule'.

The main focus of easing into our schedule
has been to rise, eat, bless our home,
and have Bible time together.
If the rest of our schedule falls into place, it's an added bonus.
So far we have done pretty well,
even with our running around town the last two days
(well yesterday was void of any seatwork but for a 'good cause').

We have, again, enjoyed diving into God's Word.
If you have never read God's Word with a dictionary,
I recommend that you do. What a blessing it is!
We enjoy pulling words out of the passages (for our vocab)
and looking them up (Webster's 1828).
Even if we 'know' what the word, generally, means,
it delights us to study it further!

In addition to reading our chapters in Genesis,
pulling out vocab words, and doing prayer letters,
the younger ones have enjoyed color pages
and drawing their illustrations.

Our verses of focus this week:
"And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb..."
"And Abraham... looked, and behold behind him a ram..."
"And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh..."

(Genesis 22:8,13,14)
Jehovah-jireh = The LORD will provide

Below are their illustrations for Genesis 22...

The picture can be clicked on to enlarge
so the details of their illustrations can be seen.

We look forward to continuing in our studies!
It is always a blessing when we can get into God's Word
but we get so much more when we take time to study It!

"And I will delight myself in thy commandments,
which I have loved."
~ Psalm 119:47

"O how love I thy law!

it is my meditation all the day."
~ Psalm 119:97

"Thy word is very pure:

therefore thy servant loveth it."
~ Psalm 119:140

I need to get me one of those dictionaries~I have read some of the definitions online, and they are just wonderful!

~~~~~~
WHEW that was the hardest "secret" to keep for so long. I am so relieved that everyone knows now. My kids are ecstatics, and they want me to speed up the process ;)~I am sure the next 4 1/2 months will fly by for them, and hopefully for me too :D.
Have a great week
~Amy
Thanks for your prayers!!!!
Genesis 22 is a favorite passage for my family. It shows us that God will provide, and we get such encouragement for adults/parents and children to obey God from these scriptures.
Jacob so obediently went on that mountain top not knowing what the outcome would be, but knowing he had to obey. Then there is also Isaac's obedience. He had to be frightened when his father was preparing to sacrifice him,but we do not read where he gave his father any trouble. It wasn't until the last few minutes before Jacob was going to sacrifice him that God made known the Lamb. What an obedient boy. He too knew that God's will is best even when it is difficult.
We often refer to this chapter. There are so many Bible truths there.
Good pictures kids!
God bless your day!
I love using the Webster's 1828, Sometimes I start out to do a Bible study on something and more than half the time I end up just looking up all the meanings for the words, it's so rich. I love his definition for marriage.
I heard somewhere that Webster translated his own copy of the Bible into English so he could better know what a word means for his dictionary. I'd like to see some modern dictionariast do that! (wrong word I know... I failed English!)
Blessings,
Laura
See I have been hunting around for an Websters 1828 Dictionary but haven't been able to locate them in town. Did you order yours online like CBD or something? I don't know if I would order online, can you imagine the shipping on that heavy thing? :-)
Maybe a college bookstore would have them?
God bless you and your family as you finish the week in schooling.
Weekday hugs,
Dawn
