Step of Obedience...

I'm sure it has much to do with the fact
that from the time of birth, until he was about 3 years old,
our son had chronic ear infections which, in turn,
compelled us to avoid allowing water
to get on his face and ears, which, very likely,
contributed to his very present and great fear of water.
The idea of water getting on his face
or near, let alone in, his ears is a frightful thing for him.
Needless to say, really, that it has made
for many years of difficult bathing rituals
(including washcloths and very careful 'water projection').
I am sure I did my son a disservice
by creating/allowing this habitual fear to go so long
but, unfortunately, I did.

After over a year of wrestling with the Holy Spirit,
our son, through much prayer, took the courageous step
to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in believer's baptism!
Oh, what joy filled our hearts (and tears our eyes)!
We are praising God for His answering prayer,
for the Holy Spirit convicting and guiding our son
in such a big decision in his life and Christian walk
and for giving him the courage that He knew
our son needed to obey.
Thank you, Lord...
May he continue to obey You, courageously and boldly.

"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead
by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life."
~ Romans 6:4

"I have no greater joy
than to hear that my children walk in truth."
~ 3 John 1:4

I'm overwhelmed when children take their own spiritual lives seriously. It just blesses me.

We have a daughter who is fearful of getting baptized. If you think about it, would you remember her in prayer that the Lord would help her with this fear as well.

It is such a blessing as a parent to know that your children are walking with the Lord. All of our children have taken that step and have been baptized. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful news. I like the look of your blog.

I've known many children to put off baptism because of a fear of water...so when they DO take that step it is all much more momentous...knowing that it's a huge step for them!
Praise the Lord for your son taking that step!

Absolutly Wonderful! It means so much more when you know that it is a step of obedience that in some way "costs" the convert something. Recently, we had an elderly man - very weak and sickly because he is dying of cancer come for baptism. His eyes wet with tears as the pastor asked him if he was ready to be identified with Christ!! He said he just wanted to be obedient to Christ following his salvation.

Praising the Lord with you!

Blessings,
~Martie

Wonderful news. Praising the Lord that he was able to step out in faith despite his fear and "go under".

The Lord is good, He gives us strength.

Oh, that is so beautiful Christina, I have tears in my eyes too. Rejoicing with you! It brings fond memories of our girls getting baptized this past summer as well.

So now I am curious, do you think he will be more of a water lover since he survived this momentous event? :)

That's great! Although I didn't "put off" baptism, I was very scared when I got baptized, and I was an adult. I was scared about the reaction I'd get since most people thought I was saved already, but I was also very scared of being "pushed" under water, I always have been. I got through it, though I'm glad we only have to do it once! LOL.

WOW big congratulations on your son being obedient to our Lord and taking that big step in faith and conquering his fears..BOY do i remember my fears of being baptized..and NOW i'm so glad i was obedient the funny thing strange thing was that God told me to get baptized the day before the baptism so i had no time to prepare..i did type up a speech of how much God means to me..but in the end once i was in that water i threw the paper away and just spoke from my heart =)) it was amazing so many people told me even strangers who were there how it moved them to see that..=)) So Praise God..my baptism was in August 19th 2008..so very recently..but Praise God for your son's obedience..i'm sure a lot of angels sang praises and were so happy for your son's salvation and baptism =)) amazing story!
