Burning Bushes to Be Seen

"Now Mosheh {Moses} kept the flock
of Jethro his father in law,
the priest of Midian:
and he led the flock to the backside of the desert,
and came to the mountain of Elohim, even to Horeb.
And the angel of YHVH {the LORD} appeared unto him
in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush:
and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire,
and the bush was not consumed.
And Mosheh {Moses} said, I will now turn aside,
and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt."
Exodus 3:2-3

Moses was going about his daily duties
of tending to the flocks when he noticed something...
a burning bush.
He could have rationalized it away,
he could have claimed he was too busy to investigate,
and he could have continued about with his day.

He didn't, though.
Instead, he stopped what he was doing
and decided to turn aside to find out more.

It wasn't until he made that choice
that YHVH called to him.

"And when YHVH saw that he turned aside to see,
Elohim called unto him out of the midst of the bush..."
(verse 4)

Do we notice the burning bushes throughout our day?

There are many ways that YHVH seeks us
to turn aside from our daily routine to listen to Him.
Sometimes we can become so busy
that we miss Him and what He wants to say to us.

May we not get caught up in daily life, so much so,
that we miss the opportunities He sets before us...
so busy that our intentions never come to fruition.
May we never be too busy for Him.
May we turn aside from the rhythm of 'dailyness'
to listen and learn of Him...
to study, to pray, to do good, to serve

Sometimes those burning bushes are not obvious,
sometimes they are subtle.
May we pay attention and not miss those moments,
missing the blessings that He has for us through them.

May we look for the burning bushes
along the pathway of our daily lives.

"... Elohim called unto him out of
the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses.
And he {Moses} said, Here am I." (v.4)

Here am I, Father...

ready to listen,
ready to respond,
ready to obey

Simple Woman's Daybook, December 21, 2010

For today...
Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Outside my window...
it is dark, cloudy, and rainy

I am thinking...
of my husband and daughter
driving home tonight

I am thankful ...
how the Father opens eyes,
teaches, and answers prayer

I am wearing...
a black cotton jumper
with a burgundy checkered,
button up, long sleeve shirt,
dark, knee-hi socks,
and a burgundy covering

I am remembering...
the goodness and the faithfulness
of YHVH {Yahweh; the LORD}

I am reading...
Ezekiel, Matthew,
and portions from
Exodus {Torah portion};
"Restoration" by D. Thomas Lancaster;
various articles I've printed from online

I am hoping (praying)...
that YHVH {the LORD} will continue
to open the eyes of people,
that we will return to Him
and His ways

On my mind ...
the Truths He has been showing me
and reaffirming to me

From the learning rooms...
reading living books
miscellaneous seatwork,
studying Torah portions
and branching off into unit-type studies;
natural learning always continues...
though we'll be laid back this week
as Daddy has some days off
and our eldest will be home visiting

Noticing that...
when I call upon Him, He hears,
and He does answer

Pondering these words ...

"Teach me, O YHVH {Yahweh; LORD}
the way of Thy statutes;
and I shall keep it unto the end.
Give me understanding,
and I shall keep {observe}Thy Torah {law}
yea, I shall observe {guard} it
with my whole heart.
Make me to go in the path
of Thy commandments;
for therein do I delight."
Psalm 119:33-35

From the kitchen...
a few supper dishes remain;
fresh snickerdoodles sit
in a bowl on the counter

On the Menu...

T ~ Taco wraps
W~ Chicken noodle soup & rolls
Th ~ Roast/ranch mashed potatoes
F ~ Sourdough Pizza
S ~ Chicken & stuffing crockpot
Sun ~ Pasta

I am creating...
a few toddler skirts
(for a friend)

I am hearing...
this blog's background music
and silence throughout
the rest of the house,
as the children are in bed for the night

One of my favorite things...
when YHVH allows me to see
how He is answering prayer!

A few plans for the rest of the week...
very light homeschool studies;
a little shopping;
and lots of visiting with our eldest
who will only be here a few days

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

"Come now, let us reason together, saith YHVH:
though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow...
Isaiah 1:18

Shabbat Shalom!

"And Elohim {God} blessed the seventh day,

and sanctified it..." Genesis 2:3... "

Blessed is the man that doeth this,
and the son of man that layeth hold on it,
that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing any evil"
Isaiah 56:2

What a joy to honor Him
in observing and delighting in
His set-apart day! :o)

Shabbat Shalom!

Why I keep the 7th day Sabbath

Homeschool Photos 2010

Each year we like to take
special photos of the children...
well, we try to anyhow.
I think we may have somehow
missed last year... hmmm...
The last photos I found on our blog
were from two years ago.
I was looking over them,
recognizing how much the children have grown.
{insert internal sigh of sweet reminiscing...}
{coming back to reality...}
Anyhow, a few weeks ago
the children and I took a walk.
It was a good opportunity
to get some new snapshots. :)

How thankful I am to YHVH
for entrusting these precious blessings to us!

Lights... Dedication... Chanukah

One of our highlights this past week
was learning about Chanukah (or Hanukkah),
the Feast of Dedication, the Festival of Lights.

We enjoyed being a little festive,
learning more about the history
(through reading, audio, and a video),
some of the tidbits about Jewish tradition
and why they have it, but what we really enjoyed
was reading select Scripture each night
when lighting the menorah.

Below are a few pics I wanted to share...

Chanukah bouquet

Playing while listening to the Chanukah story via online

Nighttime reading of the Chanukah story and coloring

Dreidel crayons

Coloring with them

Though we did not actually play the traditional dreidel game,
we did discuss it and they did have fun spinning their pieces.

Potato latkes... Mmmm!

Candle lighting...

neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee:
but YHVH shall be unto thee an everlasting light,
and thy Elohim thy glory." Isaiah 60:19

YHVH is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

it giveth understanding unto the simple."

Day 3
"Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
they shall walk O YHVH,
in the light of Thy countenance."

and we may be saved."
Psalm 80:3

YHVH make His face shine upon thee,
and be gracious into thee:
YHVH lift up His countenance upon thee,
and give thee peace."
Numbers 6:24-26

Day 4
"The light of the body is the eye:
therefore when thine eye is single,
thy whole body also is full of light;
but when thine eye is evil,
thy body also is full of darkness."
Luke 11:34

"To open their eyes,
and to turn them from darkness to light,
and from the power of Satan into Elohim,
that they may receive forgiveness of sins,
and inheritance among them
which are sanctified by faith that is in Me."
Acts 26:18

Day 5
"In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness ;
and the darkness comprehended it not."
John 1:4-5

"Then spake Yeshua (Jesus) again unto them, saying,
I am the light of the world:
he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life."

Day 6

and they that turn many to righteousness
as the stars for ever and ever."
Daniel 12:3

That ye may be blameless and harmless,
the sons of Elohim, without rebuke,
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation,
among whom ye shine as lights in the world"
Philippians 2:14-15

Day 7
"Giving thanks to the Father,
which hath made us to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into
the kingdom of His dear Son:
in Whom we have redemption through His blood,
even the forgiveness of sins"
Colossians 1:12-14

"But ye are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of Him
Who hath called you out of darkness
into His marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people,
but are now the people of Elohim:
which had not obtained mercy,
but now have obtained mercy."
1 Peter 2:9-10

Day 8
"The sun shall be no more thy light by day;
neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee:
but YHVH shall be unto thee an everlasting light,
and thy Elohim thy glory.
Thy sun shall no more go down;
neither shall thy moon withdraw itself:
for YHVH shall be thine everlasting light,
and the days of thy mourning shall be ended."
Isaiah 60:19-20

"And there shall be no more curse:
but the throne of Elohim and of the Lamb shall be in it;
and His servants shall serve Him:
And they shall see His face;
and His name shall be in their foreheads.
And there shall be no night there;
and they need no candle, neither light of the sun;
for YHVH Elohim giveth them light:
and they shall reign for ever and ever."
Revelation 22:3-5

Chicken Noodle Soup

Soup! Ah!
Nothing else need be said... :)

Chicken Noodle Soup

2-3 boneless chicken breast
1 onion, finely chopped
2-4 cloves garlic, peeled and diced
10 carrots, diced or 'sticked'
5 celery stalks, peeled and diced
10 cups liquid (water/broth)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 TBS tarragon
1 TBS basil
(a teaspoon or Tablespoon
of whatever seasons you like)
1 pkg (a few cups) uncooked favorite noodle

Combine in the crockpot
and cook until done. :)

I, many times, will allow my chicken
to cook in the liquid almost thoroughly
before adding other ingredients.

And, as with the beauty of soups,
there are many variations you can have.
You can add whatever veggies you like,
whatever seasonings you like,
whatever liquid you like,
whatever noodle, rice, starch you like.
It's your soup. ;o)

recipe from:
being thrown together in my kitchen :)

Happy soup slurping!

We Delight!

Since learning more about YHVH's set-apart day,
it continues to be such a delight
to prepare for and observe!

We love to sing about how it is a delight!

Words can be found at this post. :)

"If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on My holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight,
the holy of YHVH, honourable;
and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure,
nor speaking thine own words:
Then shalt thou delight thyself in YHVH;
and I will cause thee to ride upon
the high places of the earth,
and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father:
for the mouth of YHVH hath spoken it."
Isaiah 58:13-14

Shabbat Shalom!

His 7th day Sabbath here

Capturing California... Mountains and Deserts

After enjoying a few days with our eldest,
we drove her and her friend back to college.
The views were absolutely breathtaking.
California is full of much beauty!

"Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low:
and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough places plain:
And the glory of YHVH shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together:
for the mouth of YHVH hath spoken it."
Isaiah 40:4-5

"He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved."
Psalm 62:2

"Thy righteousness is like the great mountains;
Thy judgments are a great deep:
O YHVH, Thou preservest man and beast."
Psalm 36:6

"As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,
so YHVH is round about His people
from henceforth even for ever."
Psalm 125:2

"Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world,
even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art Elohim."
Psalm 90:2

"He only is my rock and my salvation:
He is my defence; I shall not be moved."
Psalm 62:6

"Sing, O ye heavens; for YHVH hath done it:
shout, ye lower parts of the earth:
break forth into singing, ye mountains,
O forest, and every tree therein:
for YHVH hath redeemed Jacob,
and glorified Himself in Israel."
Isaiah 44:23

"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of YHVH, that He might be glorified."
Isaiah 61:3

"I stretch forth my hands unto thee:
my soul thirsteth after thee,
as a thirsty land. Selah."
Psalm 143:6
