Haven at Home on Wheels... Day 36... It's Not About Me...

This morning I gave into my flesh...
my selfish way of thinking, and found myself
discontent with almost everything.
I was a bear... and I am ashamed.
I grumbled to my eldest (mistake)
instead of talking with the LORD.
I decidedly closed my mouth,
knowing I needed time with my Abba, Father.
I do not like my selfish, narrow-minded perspective.
I needed my Creator to open the eyes of one He created.

I, grumpily and less that halfheartedly,
went to His Word,
breathing a prayer that, despite myself,
He would help me,
change me, feed me...

As I was finishing
and going into the last chapter
that I was going to read... He did it.
He gave me just what I needed.
And just as it does...
His goodness brought me to repentance.
And just as He promises...
He forgives.
And just as only He can do...
He changed my way of thinking,
helping me to rise above myself,
my ideas, my dreams, my circumstances...
reminding me that my life is not about myself.
... it's about glorifying Him,
loving him, obeying and serving Him,
being changed to the likeness of Him.

He reminded me how His Son left all of Glory,
how He sacrificed so much for me
by coming to Earth and then went farther
by dying a cruel and agonizing death on the cross.

Why should I not willingly
suffer and sacrifice for Him?
The greatest suffering and sacrifice I can give
does not compare to what He did.
Why should I not gladly sacrifice and die
to my own idea, wants, dreams, pleasures...
and be a living sacrifice for Him?
What is giving up those things
compared to what He did?
As His Word says, it is my reasonable service.
The least I can do is give my life to Him...
just as He gave His for me.

Thank you for Your forgiveness, LORD.
Thank you for Your mercy.
Thank you for Your abundant grace.
Thank you for Your Word.
Thank you for Your Holy Spirit.
Thank you for Your Precious Son.
Thank you for Who You are, the Great I AM.

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about
with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us,
and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus
the author and finisher of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at
the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider him
that endured such contradiction
of sinners against himself,

lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."
~ Hebrews 12:1-3

"Wherefore we receiving a kingdom
which cannot be moved,
let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
For our God is a consuming fire."
~ Hebrews 12:28-29

Thank you for sharing,
