Haven at Home Happenings...

I'm not sure where our time went this week.
I look back and it seems to have disappeared.
Life, truly, is a vapor.
"For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
that appeareth for a little time,
and then vanisheth away."

~ James 4:14b
That's how I felt this week.

I'd love to say that we were busy
with what we were supposed to be,
but I cannot.
However, we did manage
to get some things accomplished. ;o)

Monday is a blur to me this week...
On Tuesday, I had the blessing
of meeting with an old friend
that moved to the area not too long ago,
who's husband just left for Afghanistan.
We met at a local coffee shop
and enjoyed a couple hours
of fellowship and catching up.
It is such a blessing to have
a daughter that is old enough and willing
to take over the home duties once in a while. ;o)

In the afternoon, the children and I
enjoyed reading our Bibles together,
discussing the application of the verses,
and illustrating them.
We were in John, chapter 14,
and it was a blessing
to discuss how Jesus pointed out
(quite a few times)
that obedience is an action of love.
"If ye love me, keep my commandments."
~ John 14:15
Not only does this relate to
our relationship with Jesus,
but, also, in our parent/child relationship.

On Wednesday, our Will woke up ill.
I had the arduous task of cleaning regurgitation
from the hallway and bathroom floor. Poor sweetie.
Wednesday was spent as a sort of 'free' day.
I worked on laundry and completed my new apron.
Towards the evening, he felt better,
and we were rejoicing that, thus far,
no one else has had this ailment. ;o)

Thursday was busier for us...
In the morning, we spent some time in our studies.
We discussed our sin nature, God's free gift of salvation,
and how He is the Bread of Life
and that we may eat from HIM
and never hunger...
that real, lasting satisfaction
only comes from Jesus Christ.
What a blessing!

For history, we read more about
the art and entertainment of Ancient Greece.
As a project, the children made mosaic coasters...

{not sure why this uploaded sideways}

They enjoyed playing with the glue and beans.
Suzie, too, enjoyed the beans...
the ones that fell on the floor
or were purposely given to her so the children
could watch her crack them open! lol

Speaking of Suzie, it's been a while
since I've shared a pic of her.
Here she is playing with her rope with Ally...

Ally spent a lot of time this week
working on a book that she is writing.
Daddy's laptop has come in real handy! ;o)

Also, this week, the children enjoyed
playing out-of-doors,
when the weather was nicer...

I'm not sure I'll ever understand
why it is more fun to play ON the house
rather than IN it.

Today we anticipate a typical Friday...
friends, fellowship, and sourdough pizza night!

I hope you have enjoyed your week, too!

"The LORD is good to all:
and his tender mercies are over all his works.
All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD;
and thy saints shall bless thee."
~ Psalm 145:9-10

Christina-on the mosaic coasters, do you fill the jar lid with glue around the beans? This looks so fun. Could you give me more information on how you did this? Thank you!

Hi Christina! I enjoyed the post! I am sorry Will was sick, hope he's feeling better now.
I love the coasters! What type of lid did you use for those? I'd like to have our kids make them.
Hope you have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow!

Love your Happenings posts. You always have such full weeks - & fun too. Love your lesson on obedience as an action of love. Is that pointed out in your lesson books too, so just what the Lord gave you?

Sorry to hear that Will was sick, the 24 hr. flu has been going about these parts too - we haven't had it, but friends have. I told the girls to be very careful at Awana last night & not catch anything. :)

Kristy ~ Too funny that they prefer the top of the house. ;o)

Frances ~ We filled the lid with a thin layer of clear glue then the children pressed the beans into it and let it dry. It was very simple. ;o)

Sherry ~ Thanks for sharing our day with us. Praying for you as your husband is away. I understand. {{hugs}}

Valerie ~ The lids for our coasters were plastic jarring lids. They are usually found near the 'mason' jars in stores. ;o)

Jane ~ Our lessons in John aren't actually "lessons". That is what we are doing for Bible in the mornings. I am just simply reading a chapter with the children and discussing a verse or so that 'pops' out. That verse was one of them. ;o)

Hope y'all are enjoying your week!
~ Christina
