Our eldest turned 18 this past Sunday.
It was a perfect opportunity
to surprise her at college.
After some hours of driving,
we arrived and arranged for her
to pick 'her gift' up at her door.
Curious, she walked to her door,
looking for a box
only to have herself pursued
by running children...
which she did not expect...
Seeing her... the smiles... the joy...
the embracing... the tears...
It melts this mama's heart.
The longing and the aching
of being apart from a loved one,
especially a child (who is, also, a friend),
may sometimes reside
in a small corner of the heart...
but it never goes away.
That we were glad to see her...
would be a great understatement.
We whisked her away,
off to enjoy lunch and a couple of hours with her...
A couple of hours is all we had,
but we were thankful for them...
Watching them grow
isn't easy.
It's difficult to remember that
His ways are not our ways.
It can be fearful to
release arrows.
But...
Fear of the unknown is conquered
by faith in the Unseen.
"... Be not afraid,
only believe."

What a precious post. I can really feel the love that you have for your daughter. She is a beautiful young woman and I'm sure you are very proud of her. That was so sweet you went to surprise her on her birthday.
What a blessing that you live so close to her. My sister attended Hyles Anderson so we only saw her at Christmas and a few weeks each summer. It was very hard.(((Hugs to you)))
Happy birthday to Ally! :)
What a great surprise and joyful time for your entire family! So glad you were able to do this.
Tears in my eyes, because my heart heard your words...I have two sons almost 19 & 20 and one arrow left....I try not to fear....but it is a challenge! :) Glad you were able to share a special moment with her!
I am so glad that you surprise Alexandra that way. What a lovely blessing.
How beautiful, I love that you surprised her!
I cant imagine the day when my children leave the home.. its encouraging to know how you are handling the aches!
Blessings, Sarah Beth

That was so lovely. Tears in my eyes as I know this way you are speaking of as I have a son who is now grown and married (two younger boys at home still) but watching them grow, still knowing it is part of Abba's plan is still a challenge to our hearts at times.
Beautiful post, blessings.
