Honey Wheat Bread...

Our family's favorite bread recipe
(other than sourdough ;o)...

Honey Wheat Bread

6 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup honey
3 cups warm water
2 TBS yeast
1 TBS sea salt

In mixing bowl (or in mixer - we use a Bosch),
mix the honey, oil, water, and yeast.
While running on low speed,
add 4 cups of flour and then add the salt.
Continue adding flour until the dough
clears the sides of the bowl.
Knead on a low speed for 5-10 minutes.
Shape into 3-5 loaves
and let rise in a warm oven
for about 20 minutes
or on counter for 1 hour.
Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes.

**For herb bread, knead into the dough
a teaspoon of each (or one) of the following:
basil, rosemary, oregano, and thyme

Enjoy!

You don't have to bloom your yeast first? I know that the active yeast they sell now says you don't have to, but every recipe I've ever used still tells me to do it, so I always have. Am I reading your recipe right?... does it work!?

Donna ~ Thank you. :o)

Pam ~ I can't recall any yeast that I've 'bloomed'. I would let the yeast come to room temperature, though. The recipe works great. I've used it many times, just as I posted it. The two loaves in the photo are from this recipe. ;o)

Christina, I now that you have gone through several "changes" lately, and I was just wondering about something. Is there religious significance to the fact that the latest pictures of you have you in head coverings, or did you just feel like wearing them? If you aren't comfortable sharing about this, please delete this. But I am always curious as I always wonder what makes women do that. :)

Katy-Anne ~ I don't mind the asking, at all. I have been wearing them more often lately as a convenience, personal preference, and desire to honor the LORD. I have been re-examining some things in my life and wearing a headcovering is one of them. My husband does not mind this, at all, and it has been a physical reminder for me as I aim to have a submissive spirit.
I understand the explanation of those that believe and the verse that refers to long hair given as a covering but I am seeking the LORD's will for ME in this area, once again.

Christina, my comments on facebook about that issue were ill timed, as they were in no way a reference to you or anyone I knew personally. It was carried over from a discussion elsewhere. :) I was hoping you didn't get the wrong idea.

Thank you, Katy-Anne, for your clarification. Actually, I don't know what comments you're referring to so, be assured, I didn't get any wrong ideas. ;o) I understand there are many different views/convictions/preferences in this area. It's really just another area we are able to practice grace with one another. ;o) Thank you, again, though. I appreciate your comment. :o)
