Haven at Home Happenings...

Life has been quite eventful lately.
Last Thursday I was able to attend our state's
homeschool conference with two ladies from church.
It was a blessing that Daddy took a few days off
so I could go (though we do love going together, too!).
It was a very busy few days
of getting up early, staying up late,
attending workshops, and lots of shopping down
aisles and aisles of homeschool materials!
What a delight it was!
We were, also, blessed with a cozy room
at a nearby bed and breakfast.
After a long day at the conference,
it was a joy to return to a place
that was so welcoming!

While I was away, Daddy enjoyed the children
and the children enjoyed Daddy!
They even blessed Mama with a
really clean house (Marine Corps style). ;o)
What a blessing that was!

While I was gone, Ally made a cake
for my friend's sister's college graduation
reception that was at our church last night.
She did such a lovely job on the cake!

Today, the children and I took it easy,
as I am not feeling too well
and my voice has escaped me.
We enjoyed lounging around the house.
I have been working on uploading photos
and ordering prints for Ally's photo books
that will be displayed at her graduation
(in only two weeks!).
There are SO many photos!
But what a bittersweet joy it has been
as I've looked through them all.

Life will continue to be somewhat busy
the next few weeks as we prepare
for upcoming activities at church,
family coming in from out-of-state (yea!),
Ally's graduation and fellowship,
and much else that life entails. ;o)

"Blessed be the Lord,
who daily loadeth us with benefits,
even the God of our salvation. Selah."
~ Psalm 68:19

Hi Christina,
I always like to look at your pictures first and before reading, I thought perhaps you got a new sofa. lol Lovely B&B! I'm glad you had fun. What did you buy? Any great speakers that you esp. liked?

What a lovely cake Ally made - a girl of many talents. Just as good or better than what you would find at a bakery.

Sorry it's taking so long to get back to your question - but as far as if we are doing school during the summer - I'm not sure. I didn't plan on it, but we may squeeze in do a bit - at least maybe some Bible. Just enjoying some time off for now.

Have a good week!!!

Hi Christina! I haven't been by for a while, so I've enjoyed catching up with you. The bed and breakfast looked so cozy and fun! That is a great idea. I'm so glad you had a good time at the conference, and even got a spotless house to boot! I bet Marines do a great job. :)
You are a wonderful photographer and such an inspiration to me as I homeschool. Thanks for sharing your life and wisdom.
I hope you feel better soon.

Tori ~ Thank you. Ally worked hard on those roses, too. I thought she did a great job. The bed & breakfast was very lovely, indeed. ;o)

Sandra ~ Thank you. ;o)

PlainJane ~ lol No new sofa. ;o)
I bought, mostly, a large variety of living books to go along with what we will be doing this upcoming school year. I picked up a few "curriculum" things (like Apologia's elementary science, Simply Charlotte Mason's history: Joshua through Malachi and Ancient Greece; Queen Homeschool's Language Lessons for the lil' girls, etc...).
I enjoyed all of the speakers we listened to but I have to say Sonya Shaffer of Simply Charlotte Mason was the most enjoyable and informative for me. ;o)
Hope you're enjoying your time off.

Valerie ~ Yes, Marines do a great job at field day-ing (Marine term for cleaning thoroughly).
Thank you for your kind words. What a blessing they are. {{hugs}}

GraceFromHim ~ Yes, homeschool conferences are a lot of fun, and so refreshing!
It is a very busy time of year for us right now. I look forward to when my head won't be spinning quite so much but I am enjoying looking to the blessings of all that is happening, too!
Ally is very excited to be graduating! Thank you for your kind words. ;o)

Elizabeth ~ Yes, it was certainly a clean house. One of the things he did was take all of my rugs out of the dining room, reading room, and living room to mop the floors underneath and clean the rugs outside. What a blessing that was!

Hope y'all have a good week!
