For Today... Monday, November 10, 2008

Outside my window...
the sun is brightly shining
and a cool breeze is blowing

I am thinking...
how I didn't blog all last week (!)
and about our upcoming, busy week

From the learning rooms...
we will be doing a lot of 'natural' learning
due to our busy week

I am thankful for...
the extra time we'll have with Daddy this week
(since he has a few days off)

I am wearing...
square neck dress with mauve flowers,
cozy, brown, knee-high socks, and my brown lace-up boots

From the kitchen...
my sink is shining from the TLC I gave it before bed last night
and the cookie jar is full of No Bake Cookies,
waiting to be eaten

I am reading...
The book of 2 Samuel, Luke, and Revelation {KJB},
Laying Down the Rails: A Charlotte Mason Habits Handbook

I am hoping...
our week goes well and that I'm able to finish my sewing project

I am creating...
my gown for our upcoming ball & a spencer jacket to go with it

Around the house...
Mount Washmore awaits chiseling, our eldest is sleeping in
and the children are playing at the dining room table

One of my favorite things...
spending quality time with my family,
making memories together

A few plans for the rest of the week...
a day at the park with Daddy & friends to play, grill out,

& canoe; piano lessons that Ally teaches & visit with friends;
refresh our souls at our midweek Bible & prayer service;
take Beth & Carolynne to their dentist appointment;
attend the Marine Corps Ball with my beloved;
have our sourdough pizza night with friends

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

What a delight it has been to enjoy
God's beautiful autumn splendor!

"Let the heaven and earth praise him,
the seas, and every thing that moveth therein."
~ Psalm 69:34

"Nevertheless he left not himself without witness,
in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven,
and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."
~ Acts 14:17

I look forward to seeing the gown you are making. I am slowly teaching myself how to make clothing. I so far have learned pattern reading, cutting out the pattern, sewing the garment together. Where I have the trouble is at the sleeves, collars/necklines. Any pointers?

Are you sewing a Regency period dress for the ball? Did you get the pattern from the Sense and Sensibility website? Please share pictures! I am a beginner but I am working on a sewing project right now as well so I can work myself up to sewing some of Mrs. Chancey's beautiful designs.

We didn't go to the ball this year. My husband is in advance course for promotion to 1stSgt and they said just concentrate of the class si I'd love to see your pictures! Tell your husband Thank You for his service, as well to you and the kids. Semper Fi!
