Blessed is the Man

"Blessed is the man that doeth this,
and the son of man that layeth hold on it;
that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing evil.
Also the sons of the stranger;
that join themselves to the LORD,
to serve Him,
and to love the name of the LORD,
to be His servants,
every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and taketh hold of My covenant"
Isaiah 56:2,6

Blessed, indeed!

"In His hand are the deep places of the earth:
the strength of the hills is His also.
The sea is His, and He made it:
and His hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the LORD (Yahweh) our Maker.
For He is our God (Elohim);
and we are the people of His pasture,
and the sheep of His hand.
Psalm 95:4-7

let them ever shout for joy,
because Thou defendest them:
let them also that love Thy name be joyful in Thee."

Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields;

Today our dear Carolynne (age 6) volunteered
to make her family a treat...
all by herself.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ October 18, 2010

For today...
Monday, October 18, 2010

Outside my window...
the sky is blackened by nightfall,
the city lights glow

I am thinking...
how a hot cup of tea
on this cool night
would be lovely

I am thankful ...
that even though I may feel alone,
I know that I am not...
I know the HE is with me,
never to leave me
nor forsake me.
He is loving me,
longsuffering with me,
and drawing me nearer to Himself.
That He opens my blinded eyes,
that He leads me to humility,
blesses me with repentance,
and teaches me His truth..
and how He shelters me,
protects me, and defends me
against those that fear,
do not understand, and oppose

I am wearing...
a light blue paisley print
colonial style dress

I am remembering...
where my Heavenly Father
has brought me from

I am reading...
Ezekiel, Matthew,
and portions from
Genesis, 2 Kings, and Luke this week;
lesson in our Sunday evening Bible study;
"Real Christianity" by William Wilberforce;
"Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" by Ann Spangler, Lois Tverberg

I am hoping (praying)...
for strength, wisdom,
love, and grace
especially in circumstances;
for our eldest, who is at college,
to grow closer to the Savior,
to see HIS truths,
and to obey and follow HIM;
for my beloved husband
and our children still at home;
for the LORD (YHWH)
to open the eyes of His people

On my mind (still)...
how the disciples, the prophets,
many others, and even Jesus (Yeshua)
suffered reproach and persecution...
and I am blessed to among them

From the learning rooms...
studying Torah portions,
reading living books
and some seatwork goes on,
as natural learning continues

Noticing that...
so many lack understanding
and are driven by fear,
without realizing it,
and that sometimes words
can be discouraging...
but that He encourages me
through His Word,
through what He has done,
by Who He is,
and so much more!

Pondering these words (still)...
"Blessed are ye,
when men shall revile
(reproach) you,

and persecute you,
and shall say all manner
of evil against you falsely,

for My sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad:

for great is your reward in Heaven... "
(Matthew 5:11-12)

Though it may be painful
and discouraging, at times,

I REJOICE that ...I may gain
deeper understanding of His words
as I seek His Truth! I rejoice!

"He that loveth
father or mother more than me

is not worthy of me:
and he that loveth
son or daughter more than me

is not worthy of me.
And he that taketh not his cross,
and followeth after me,

is not worthy of me."
(Matthew 10:37-38)

From the kitchen...
the coffee pot is set for the morning...
the lights are off
and kitchen is closed for the night

I am creating...
regency dresses
(for an online friend & her family);
and helping a friend
learn to sew a jumper

I am hearing...
background music
from my blog...
occasional 'creaks'
from a sleeping house

One of my favorite things...
a rare, quiet evening of solitude

A few plans for the rest of the week...
help a friend learn to sew;
continue with our Scripture reading,
discussions, and illustrations;
keep our home
and enjoy the many comforts therein!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

A sunset view from our yard

"When I consider Thy heavens,
the work of Thy fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which Thou hast ordained;
What is man
that Thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man
that Thou visitest him?

O LORD our Lord,
how excellent is Thy name
in all the earth!"

(Psalm 8:3-4,9)

What a blessed thought!

Scones and Devonshire Cream

Basic Scones

until mixture resembles a coarse cornmeal.
Make a well in the center
and pour in buttermilk.

Mix until dough clings together
and is a bit sticky but do not over mix.
Turn out dough onto a floured surface
and shape into a 6 to 8 inch round,
about 1 1/2 inches thick.
Cut into pie wedges or use a biscuit cutter.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Brush with lightly beaten egg for shine.
Bake at 425 degrees for 10 to 20 minutes,
till light brown.

Serve warm with cream! Mmmm!

Mock Devonshire Cream

1/2 cup heavy cream
OR 8 oz softened cream cheese
2 TBS confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup sour cream

In a chilled bowl, beat cream
until medium-stiff peaks form,
adding sugar during
the last few minutes of beating.
(If using cream cheese,
just stir together with sugar)
Fold in sour cream and blend.

Enjoy on warm scone! Mmmm!

Have a cup of tea
Along with cream on a scone.
'Tis better with a friend
But can be enjoyed alone.

What Kind of Inheritance?

"A good man leaveth an inheritance
to his children's children..."
Proverbs 13:22

What are we teaching them?
What are we laboring for?
What will we leave behind?

Temporary riches...

Or those eternal?

"Thy testimonies have I taken
as an heritage for ever:
for they are the rejoicing of my heart."
Psalm 119:111

"The fear of the LORD (ADONAI)
is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD (ADONAI)
are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb."
Psalm 19:9-10

"And whatsoever ye do,
do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive
the reward of the inheritance:
for ye serve the Lord Christ (Messiah)."
Colossians 3:23-24

"Blessed be the God (Elohim) and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ
(Yeshua the Messiah),
which according to His abundant mercy
hath begotten us again unto a lively hope
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ
(Yeshua the Messiah)
from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible,
and undefiled,
and that fadeth not away,
reserved in heaven for you,
Who are kept by the power of God (Elohim)
through faith unto salvation
ready to be revealed in the last time."
1 Peter 1:3-5

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.
Matthew 6:19-21

By Thy grace, Father,
help me to give them
a spiritual heritage...
a godly heritage...
for Thy glory.
