Change... and peace in the midst

A chapter closes as a new one begins...

The place we called home for 3+ years
has been packed, emptied, and cleaned...
Keys have been returned
and HOME has a new face.
HOME will have many faces in the days to come.

But, then again... HOME is many faces.
Home is not the building (or camper) in which we reside...
It is found in the faces of those I love...
in memories... in moments...
it's a bond of the heart that exists
and rests in that union of love.

HOME doesn't change... it goes with me...

The LORD is faithful in helping me to remember
that the house, the yard, the neighborhood,
the situations, the circumstances...
they're all temporary...
and change is inevitable...
Life here is only temporary...
and HE compelled me to reflect
on how I spent my years here... for HIM.
What was the eternal value of my life here?

While life here is temporal,
there is an eternal...

"Only one life, 'twill soon be past...
Only what's done for Christ will last"

I wonder have I done my best for Jesus...
when HE has done so much for me.

Haven at Home Happenings...

It's been a very busy week in the HsKubes' Home...
and it will be even busier this week
as the movers come to pack up our belongings
and load them into their truck,
preparing to take it across the country to California.

This may, in fact, be
my last "Haven at Home Happenings" themed post
for quite some time, as I'm unsure
how often I will be able to post from a computer...
but I wanted to share a few things
that have occurred in our home this past week...

"Formal" homeschooling has been put on hold for now,
due to our moving preparations,
so it was a particular delight that the LORD blessed us
with such beautiful weather
and the children spent most of their week out-of-doors.

Neighborhood children were on their spring break
and our younger ones enjoyed playing in the backyard with them.
Will seized the opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
with another boy from the neighborhood
(about two weeks ago, he led a young girl to the LORD!
We are praying that this boy, too, will accept Jesus as his Savior).

It is such a blessing and thrill to my heart
to see his concern for lost souls
AND his obedience
to share with them the only way to Heaven...

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature." ~ Mark 16:15

The younger children enjoyed having a table
set up in our reading room and used it
for many paper craft projects this week...

Purple, snowcapped mountains, a rainbow, and a happy sun
for Carolynne's scenic design

A sunny day of snow falling onto the purple mountains
and a garden of carrots growing in the field
for Beth's scene.

"The Battle of Bunker Hill" by Will

And our solar system, including the asteroid belt
was flowing from Will's creative 'juices'

In the middle of the week,
my beloved blessed us with our new
"Haven at Home on Wheels"!

We will be using this as we travel across the country
and once we get to California,
it will remain our home for about a month
as we decide what to do for housing.
That will be a minimum of 1 1/2 months in our
"Haven at Home on Wheels"!
We are very much looking forward to
the wonderful adventure ahead!
And praise the LORD for such an opportunity!

At the end of the week,
I enjoyed the blessing
of hosting a tea party at our home...

Invitations were sent earlier in the week...

Treats were made...

And guests arrived...

And, of course, tea was served! ;o)
It was a wonderful time of fun and fellowship!

On Saturday, Ally and I traveled about an hour away
to take her to the place where the ACT testing was.
She tested for five hours,
while mama enjoyed the local sights in solitude.
We enjoyed a special lunch together afterward
(and a quick shopping trip).

We traveled back towards home,
stopping at a friend's to pick up the younger ones.
Ally enjoyed unwinding by bike riding
with her friend...

The younger ones enjoyed playing out-of-doors, too,
and the mamas enjoyed a walk.

Spring had sprung...
and it was a delight to walk
and enjoy God's beautiful creation!

"Blessed be the Lord,
who daily loadeth us with benefits,
even the God of our salvation. Selah."

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ April 6, 2010

For today... April 6, 2010

Outside my window...
bright skies and beautiful air,
a variety of birds are singing
their morning praises to God

I am thinking...
of how I fail every day
and the LORD of all
is longsuffering with me
and still loves me anyway

I am thankful for...
the Friend I have in Jesus

I am wearing...
a blue suede jumper
with a light pink t-shirt

I am remembering...
how Jesus gave His best for me,
has done so much for me,
and how I need to strive
to do my best for Him

I am going...
to trust and rest in JEHOVAH

I am reading...
through my KJ Bible in a year,
{I fell behind last year so I am doing this in a year and a half}
currently in Isaiah, Hebrews;
our A to Z Mentoring printouts from church
(working on"H", Holy Spirit)
Choosing Gratitude by Nancy Leigh DeMoss;
Created to Be His Helpmeet (by Debi Pearl);
A Hunger for God by John Piper
20 and Counting by Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar

I am hoping (praying)...
for the Holy Spirit to work His perfect will
in our eldest's life
and for His protection over her,
for His will and help in our upcoming move
and all of the details involved

On my mind...
our upcoming move
and all that I need to work on
to make it happen more smoothly

From the learning rooms...
various and sporadic seatwork
and natural learning
as we prepare for our move

Noticing that...
the LORD is merciful, gracious,
longsuffering, and forgiving

Pondering these words...
"The steps of a good man
are ordered by the LORD:
and he delighteth in his way."
~ Psalm 37:23

From the kitchen...
a 'blessing' is needed

On the menu...
T ~ Crockpot chicken & noodles
W ~ Taco rice tacos
Th ~ Stir fry and rice
F ~ Sourdough Pizza

Around the house...
all is quiet
as Daddy and eldest are at work
and the younger ones are sleeping

I am creating...
lots of lists of things to pack;
a new jumper,
brown with floral print
{on hold for a little while}

I am hearing...
a variety of birds
singing their morning praises
to their Creator...
predominantly a mockingbird

One of my favorite things...
enjoying quiet time in the morning
with my Creator, Saviour, and Friend

A few plans for the rest of the week...
pack for our travels/upcoming move;
have a housing pre-inspection;
enjoy and encourage natural learning
with the children; do lots of laundry!;
pick up our eldest from work;
pick up our new travel trailer camper
with my beloved; plan our trip;
go to our midweek prayer and Bible study;
go grocery shopping; take eldest to her ACT;
host a Jane Austen tea!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

"The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come..."
~ Song of Solomon 2:12

What a blessing to see the changes of the seasons!
What a wonderful Creator we have
and what joys and delights HE gives us!
Be sure to take time, enjoy,
and give praise and thanks to HIM!

There Rose a Lamb...

Glad Resurrection Sunday!

May you have a blessed Lord's Day,
as we reflect on all Jesus Christ did for us
by dying on the cross and rising from the grave!

Below is a song I shared a couple of years ago.
But the message is still the same!

There Rose a Lamb

It was the third day since He died
and it was said He would arise.
Then, from the grave, this Lamb came forth.
Oh, I have reason to rejoice.

He chose the place, He chose the hour
that He would rise by His own power.
A sacrifice three days ago,
and now, praise God, the Lamb arose.

There rose a Lamb in Jerusalem.
He was the Son of the great I AM.
He proved to me my victory.
There rose a Lamb in Jerusalem.

I wasn't there when Jesus died;
I wasn't there to see Him rise.
But I was there when He saved my soul.
For within my heart this love arose.

There rose a Lamb in Jerusalem.
He was the Son of the great I AM.
He proved to me my victory.
There rose a Lamb in Jerusalem.

He arose, He arose!
Halellujah! Christ arose!
He arose, He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

He proved to me my victory.
There rose a Lamb in Jerusalem.

(The above song is not recorded with any great quality,
it is simply my daughter and I, she playing piano and I singing,
but this is a song with beautiful words.
If you listen, please be sure to read the words while doing so.
For easier listening, the background music of my blog
can be turned off by clicking stop in the sidebar.)

"...how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried,
and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:"
~ 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

"Who was delivered for our offences,
and was raised again for our justification."
~ Romans 4:25

"And from Jesus Christ,
who is the faithful witness,

and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth.
Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood"
~ Revelation 1:5

"I am he that liveth, and was dead;
and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen;
and have the keys of hell and of death."
~ Revelation 1:18

"That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,

and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved."

~ Romans 10:9

Haven at Home Happenings...

Another week has breezed by...

It was a joy this week to study the Passover(s)...
The Old Testament Exodus
and Jesus Christ's, the Lamb of God's, crucifixion.
It was a blessing to dig into a deeper understanding
of God's Word and what He has done for us.

Reading the Passover stories and doing an activity

Learning a traditional Passover song: Dayenu

A video slideshow that my beloved and I put together
of Ally and I singing "Dayenu" on guitar

{You can stop the blog's background music in the right sidebar}
(You'll hear Suzie sing along a little, too... lol)

A simple Passover meal...

Turnip (bitter herbs), roasted lamb, and unleavened bread

Enjoying it together...

while listening to an audio program of
the four Gospel accounts of Jesus Christ's crucifixion

It was a blessing reflecting on what Jesus Christ
has done for us, through HIS shed blood.
He was the Ultimate Sacrifice.
Praise God for HIS finished work!

Between our many errands
and picking up Ally every day from work,
we managed to spend much time vanschooling...

Coloring Bible stories

Contemplating workbook pages

Reading Mom's new Duggar book (lol)

It was a good week.

May we be reflecting on what Jesus Christ did for mankind.
How He left the throne of Glory in Heaven,
humbled Himself to become the form of man,
rejected by His creation,
mocked, beaten, bruised, bled...
separated from God the Father
to purge us from our sins...
dying a cruel death on the cross of Calvary,
the Ultimate sacrifice, the Lamb of God...
rising from the grave,
victory of death!
That we may call on HIM, believe on HIM,
trust in HIM
and have that victory, too!
Freedom from sin.
Freedom from eternal death in Hell.

Praise HIM for the risen Lamb!

"But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
~ Romans 5:8

"For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried,
and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:"
~ 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

"Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name
under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved."
~ Acts 4:12
